What do we want?

I've read many reports about this and that.
Why did you buy your 15-22?
I bought mine originally because the pistol looked good. However, looking good doesn't always translate to crazy accurate good.
I bought the MOE 15-22, did the trigger stuff, and love it.

Now, I've got the PC and am going to go out tomorrow and fire it against the MOE off a rest.

What kind of accuracy do you expect from your gun?

I wanted a reasonably accurate AR trainer/variable purpose low cost-to-operate gun, and I think I've found it in the 15-22.
I eventually want to step up to a 5.56.

manual of arms is the same as my AR15 (bolt hold open etc)

and
my range's rules for general purpose areas is no rifle calibers. to fire a rifle on the the rifle range, is slow fire, and from a bench.

I used to go threw 500 rounds of NATO 5.56mm a week...

needed a cost efficient trainer and didn't want to spend time building one

I got the first one for my son to grow into. It worked so well I disassembled my daughter's standard ar15 dedicated 22 and got her a 15-22 as well. Of course I am having fun breaking them in for them until they grow into them!

I liked the AR when I was in the service, and the 15-22 provided a reasonably priced rifle in that platform. And its cheep to shoot and modifiable to the hearts delight.

Wanted a .22 as they are so fun and relatively cheap. I had previously sold my older 7.62 rifle and my .45 pistol...I was feeling bad about selling them and wanted to pick something up.

First I looked at the pistol because it was available locally. Decided the rifle was a much better option for me at least. it just felt better and the 16" barrel was a definite plus to me. I liked the quad-rail and the options for accessories it brought. I have been pretty happy with my decision so far. I just can't seem to stop spending money on this little plinker though. Funny for the coin I dropped I could have had a pretty nice 5.56, but you got to love bulk packs of ammo for under 20 bucks. My .02

I first saw 15-22 on Smith& Wesson web site . I first thought why??? Then got to thinking I sure like shooting my dads old 22 semi-auto when I was kid . I wanted AR rifle anyway . Ok That might be some fun . So finally bought one , last June . I have been very happy with it . That thing sure put a smile on my face at the range . I still want AR 15 .223 , Hopefully I get one some day .

But seriously, I have many other rifles in larger calibers but 99% of my shooting is shotguns or .22 rimfires. Why? Because I have convenient access to facilities where I can shoot those and I don't to high power rifle ranges.

I enjoy the 15-22 a lot. It seems to be more accurate than my savage .22 and the fun factor is exponentially higher.

I was never into .22's before, and had no reason to get into them.

Picked up a GSG 1911 .22 and had (still having) too much fun with it.

I've always wanted an AR rifle but didn't feel like building one up since I would never use it (can't shoot .223 at the nearby indoor ranges... outdoor range was a good hour drive away).

I always liked the 15-22 design, especially the MOE version, and immediately picked that up after the GSG.

For me it was one of those things I have to have. Impulse buy. Plus I use it for varmint hunting, might as well look cool doing it lol. Plus a trainer rifle.

Went the other way first with the Sig 5.56, needed a more cost effective trainer plus something for the grandson to shoot

I've pretty much sworn off of any of my higher caliber firearms, and have been
adding nothing but .22's to my collection.

After getting the S&W-22a a year ago, I saw a write-up in my American Rifleman
on tactical 22's. They had the Smith in the middle amongst a half dozen
others, but the description just grabbed me. Sounded a lot like the M-16 I
shot in the military, and they AR-15 I got a few years ago.

Have only had it a week now, and only pumped a hundred rounds through
it so far, but am diggin' it big!

I wanted one (and am awaiting delivery) primarily for family fun. I have a M&P15T, but that isn't one that kids can readily shoot and certainly isn't cost effective for a day of shooting at pop cans.

I think the 15-22 will definitely fit the bill.

More than any other caliber I love .22's, and I didn't have one, isn't that enough reason?

I bought mine to get some trigger time on an AR platform. I can't get enough practice on my 5.56 AR carbines and the M&P15-22 seemed about as good as it gets. Plus it's super fun!!!

We've got everything from 5.56's to 12 guages down to single shot bolt-action .22lrs and .22's are just the most fun for us to shoot. They're cheap, accurate and the whole family likes to shoot them. So it only made sense to get a .22lr A/R platform to go with our real .223's and 5.56's.

I've always had 22's and just enjoy shoot-shoot-shooting them.
I had a Kel-tec 223 but the cost of the ammo took some of the fun out of shooting it.
Even after shooting about a thousand rounds with my 15-22 I still can't wait to shoot it again.
