Ammo, small cleaning kit,small gunsmith tool set, eyes, ears and magazines.

I don't have a range bag,I just carry my pistol i'm going to be shooting at the range in the case it came in that day.I buy my ammo at the range if I decide to shoot more than the box i take with me. That's just the way I go to the range.

I guess I might be approaching the "safe clean out" group.

Handguns I plan on shooting, typically 2 to 3
Ears (2x)
Eyes
Hex key set
Screwdriver
small flashlight
stapler
mags
mag loader

My bag has 2 sets of ear muffs, some ear plugs, 2 sets of glasses-clear and yellow lenses, a baseball cap, thin gloves, staple gun, a smalL cleaning kit and hand towel, and probably a few other things I threw in.

I holster my handgun and carry others if I have the time to shoot extra.
in my bag I take the following....
eyes, ears, small pick, small screw driver, staple gun, small pliers, brass punch, small hammer, small flashlight, mags, ammo, extra ear plugs,
all of which have been used to help people at the range at some point

It depends on the bag, which depends on what I am shooting, and whether i carry a range bag at all.

If I am only going to be shooting 1 or 2 pistols, they'll go in a single bag along with ear plugs, muffs, shooting glasses and chamber flags. Ammo will go in a separate small bag or a .30 caliber ammo can.

Any magazines or speed loaders are carried in the bag with the rifle or handgun, not in the general range bags.

Pistol and/or revolver range bag:
- molded ear plugs and electronic ear muffs;
- chamber flags;
- a small precision screw driver for sight adjustment of adjustable sights (and I'll add a sight pusher and wrench for adjusting fixed sights, but only when that's a purpose on the trip;
- portable cleaning kit;
- a package of stick on targets, usually 3";
- a roll of B-27 targets (carried on top of the bag; and
- a pair of shooting glasses (with readers).

Precision rifle range bag:
- molded ear plugs and electronic ear muffs;
- chamber flags;
- a package of stick on targets, usually 1" to 3";
- a roll of 100 yard small bore targets (carried on top of the bag;
- a pair of shooting glasses (with readers);
- a wind meter;
- a laser range finder;
- spotting scope;
- tripod (carried on top of the bag)
- a whiz wheel;
- .22 and .30 caliber scoring plugs;
- sight black;
- target pasters (buff and black color);
- pen, small wooden clipboard and paper for recording data;
- small portable cleaning kit;
- sight adjustment tools (AR-15 A1 and A2, UZI "A", small precision screw driver, etc);
- folding sets of metric and SAE allen wrenches; and
- FAT Wrench torque screwdriver.

Optional stuff that is dependent on need:
- chronograph;
- second lightweight tripod for the chronograph;
- adjustable front rest and rear bag;
- shooting jacket, shooting glove, sling, and shooting mat (all in it's own separate bag);
- portable shooting bench; and
- steel plates in suitable sizes.

Stuff that is always in the vehicle:
- rifle length one piece cleaning rod;
- portable target frame for either paper targets or steel plates;
- cans of black and white spray paint (for repainting steel targets).

my range bag is more of a heavier duty backpack that's loaded for each trip based on what i wanna shoot/work on. Large enough that i can carry 2 (possibly 3) of my handguns in their soft cases, some ammo, eyes and ears and some stick on targets. Add in a pen as i make notes on how i'm doing and a small combo tool. And of course, an Uplula loader lol.
Usually i'm just hitting the range down the road and head home after so dont worry about taking any cleaning supplies. But if i'm heading up to some family property for a day of shooting then at minimum some bore snakes are added.

Staple gun, masking tape, small cleaning kit, brass punch set, basic tools, and the
" hope I never need it again squib rod ", don't ask .
Gloves, eyes,ears, water.
Mostly the tools are used for other shooters.
The number one thing I loan out is the staple gun.
Last week a shooter wanted to borrow a large screwdriver to pry a stuck live round out of his brand new 1911 45 Kimber.
I refused the loan .

I keep it simple and light. Pistol, mags, ear muffs, ammo, small kit with misc "gun" fixing tools. If you need something else, turn to the guy next to you who is carrying a suit case of junk and barrow what you need. Fellow shooters are always willing to share/help. :D

Pretty much what BB57 says. I have a separate bag for my battle rifles. A separate bag for my M&P Shield 9 and Compact .22 with mags and uplula loader. I also have a separate bag for my SW22 Victory and the five mags for it.

I also carry a supply of "stickies" that I cover bullet holes with on my paper targets.

Handgun bag:
a few rags (oily and dry)
a multi tool plus a few loose tools
stapler and tacks
a supply of foam ear plugs
electronic ear muffs
pr of glasses and multiple lenses
targets
notepad, pencil and marker
tape measure
at least one water
tissues
handguns de jour in zippered gun rugs
mags or speed loaders and appropriate ammo
range member id card
double the essentials if I have a guest

For ease of movement I actually have 2 bags to head to the range. At a minimum for a pistol only day I can just grab the one bag, ammo and targets/stands and off I go. Since I am just a recreational shooter I don't really prescribe to trying to do maintenance/repairs on the range and only have a few things to aid others.
Bag one (2 pistol carrier type)
Electronic Ear muffs x2
Ear plugs (several size/types)
Band aids
Small video camera
Tinted and clear safety glasses
Upulua
4 blade knife (military one with blade, screwdriver, can opener and awl)
rags
Hand wipes
Bug juice
sunscreen

Bag 2 (Med zippered tool bag type)
Small shooting rest (disassembled)
Range scope/small tripod
Stapler, spare staples
Replacement target centers
Small bottles of cleaners/lubes
Small brass hammer w/nested flat tips in handle
Otis Cleaning kit (223)
Old cleaning rod
Bore snake (pistol)
Rags/wipes
Large/small ziplock bags (brass collectors)
Range rules for our club
Laminated safe shooting rules/sight picture graphic/handgun error pie charts

Pretty much many of the items mentioned by previous posters, however, in addition----not just hand wipes, but Hygenall LeadOff Wipes-----with D-Wipes being another brand that I've found to be good. :-)

Two pistols, 2-4 spare magazines for each, 100-150 rounds of ammo for each, a bunch of 12"x12" paper targets, including some Dirty Bird "splatter" targets, Uplula loader, a few basic tools, a bore light, a bore snake, ear plugs, electronic ear muffs, safety glasses, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Total weight is usually 20-25 lbs. Recently, I've developed some pain in my right shoulder. Coincidence? I think not. Oh well, time to put my left arm to work.

I occasionally empty one of my range bags to answer this question for myself. I've sometimes been surprised by what I've found. I've even found some items now and again I'd thought had been lost.

I guess that's what can happen if your range bag is essentially your training (instructor) bag, and you're always carrying supplemental bits & pieces, or putting something into it from a cargo pocket of your range pants, etc.

I've sometimes been a little envious of the spacious, pristine and so-very-organized range bags brought to ranges by some of the other guys & gals. Makes me wonder if they ever really use them. (Ditto organized glove boxes and consoles. Who has those?)

Then again, my current field armorer tool box has grown over the years, and as it's grown into increasingly larger boxes it's remained just as disorganized as when in the smaller boxes.

You ought to have seen my desk when I worked plainclothes. Nobody but me could ever find anything on or in it. :)

What do I carry in my range bag? Too much, the damn thing is waaaay too heavy.
