What do you do for a living?

General practice attorney in a semi-rural area for 22 years. Do everything but divorce and bankruptcy (benefits of having a partner that likes that stuff). No public defenders here so I do a lot of criminal defense as well and occasionally am called upon as a special prosecutor. Most important job though is husband to my wife and Dad to our two boys.

Served 20 years, 20 days, US Army in Armor from PFC to Captain. Retired 18 1/2 years ago.

Worked for one of the bog insurance companies for 13+ years as an individual and group annuities consultant, a customer service trainer, and group life insurance consultant with NASD/FINRA Series 6 registration. Retired in 2010.

Lasted 2 weeks before I got a security job. Currently working for a local government providing security for elected officials and other city employees.

Married 40 years, 2 girls, 2 grandchildren, 1 son-in-law.

Now 14 months cancer and prostate free. Living every day like it's a holiday.

Sent from my little slice of Heaven.

Cat, I love the low country.
I was stationed at Chas. AFB back in the 1970s, and spent time there on my trips up and down the coast in yachts.
The three places I can see myself retiring are Atlantic Beach, N.C., the Charleston area, or St. Augustine, Fl.
It's a toss up right now.

Let me know if you come this way in the future. If I'm in-town, and can get a permission slip from Mrs CatSnipah, I will take you to my indoor range and/or one of the outdoor rifle ranges.

RETIRED

Retired after 39 years in law enforcement. Worked as a street cop, Detective, Horse Racing Investigator. For 25 of those years I owned a gun shop and law enforcement supply business, part time. I will be 68 next week and I recently resigned from a part time job driving elderly persons around, for a nursing and rehab center. I have many hobbies and last week I went shooting twice. I am going to take the summer off and decide what I want to do in September. I have 7 grand kids that I have been getting interested in shooting 22 rifles. Last Sat I introduced them to a scope sighted rifle and you could tell by the smiles on their faces that they really enjoyed themselves. Stay busy it keeps you out of the ground!

I have been an RN for almost 15 years, all of it in the field of oncology. One of only 4 guys in my graduating class. Spent the first 8 years in the operating room, and have been in management ever since. Love what I do, helping people through some of the most difficult times in their life. It is amazing how far cancer care has come the past 15 years, and can't wait to see what the next 15 hold.

My wife had a grade 4 gleoblastoma multiform removed in July 2013. I see first hand what you folks can do. God has blessed you with a very special gift. Thank you, sir - from the bottom of my heart.

I spent 23 years as a production manager in the printed circuit board industry until the Chinese ran us out of business. For the last 14 I've been general manager of a leading hard drive data recovery and computer forensics company. Don't do anything on your computer you don't want anyone to find ;).

I am a simple municipal employee. More or less, a buyer, called purchasing technician. I spend tax dollars, and try to see that taxpayers get the best deal for their bucks. Give me about 2 more years, and I'll forget about this, and become a full time Forum BSer.

Been working some 35 years at a papermill punching out A4 papers.
But for the last 3 years have been driving a Truck there.

at least 10 years to retirement :(

Is the truck a Volvo? I'll tell you what, Sweden makes damn fine automobiles (and fighter jets too!).

I fix broken smiles. I'm a dentist. Been doing it for 38 years. Hope to retire and move to Colorado in 4 or 5 years.

What do I do? Go fishing, listen to music, go fishing, do the shopping, go fishing, go hiking, go fishing, go hunting, go fishing, go to the range, go fishing. Oh, did I mention I go fishing?:D

Here is yesterday :)

It sounds like where I live, if you don't fish, there's not much left to do, guy's that I worked with used to say what do you do there anyway, I would say we fish and f#$k and in the winter we don't fish.:D

IT professional, although since 2011 it hasn't been much of a "living". Wages here are VERY depressed. If all of this $15/hr. minimum wage nonsense passed, I'd literally be working minimum wage as an IT pro with 25+ years of experience.

I just got a decent helpdesk job that raised my wages by a THIRD.

In the meantime, I'm working another low paid Windows 7 rollout job that's so badly organized that the customer ran out of Windows 7 licenses in the middle of the project. I've been sitting idle (and unpaid) since Friday.

Fortunately, my real job starts Monday.

Update:

The customer on the Win7 rollout is so UTTERLY disorganized that they don't even THINK they'll have any work for us until Tuesday... by which time I will have been working a REAL job for a day.

CEO for an ISP. Getting internet to folks so they can order Amazon.com, watch Netflix and check the smith-wessonforum.com.

I don't do Netflix myself. The only movies I like were made before 1979 or so. Went to heck in a handbasket after that era. I am guilty of checking this forum and ordering on Amazon.com.

I'm retired military. 22 years in the Army. Then 10 years as a CNC machine operator. Now retired again. I took up shooting hand guns and searching for ammo on the internet as a hobby. I've bought a couple new pistols, (Shield 9mm and XDm .45 3.8" compact) in the past year, and got my CHL. I make it to the range and shoot 200-300 rounds a month.

Life is good.

Retired after 20 years as Chief of a rural volunteer fire department. Owned a general construction company for many years, building commercial and high-end residential projects. For the past 20 years I've been a consultant with a utility association, working with public water suppliers (mostly cities) developing plans to protect the quality and quantity of the water you drink. Finally going to retire full time within the year.
