What do you like best about your home state?

Being a lifelong resident of the Keystone state I'd say the best thing is the weather. We get all four seasons, but no extreme's. When I see some of the stuff people have to contend with in other parts of the country I'm glad things here are, most of the time, boring.

The other great thing about Pennsylvania is that we are not New Jersey.

Missouri here.
Keep in mind that the Midwest is called fly over country but in reality there is no such thing. Every state has their jewels, you just need to find them.

I love the hills and mountains, rivers and streams, prairies and swamps. Missouri is also full of rich history.
I don't carry a hunting gun anymore but I still traverse the swamps and mountains with my Nikon. I am always amazed at Gods creation wherever I am.

And that's what I like most about my home state.
I had two chance encounters with Missourians along a desolate stretch of MO Highway 61, south of Hannibal, on the evening of July 4th, 1989.
These were the only people I met that day. They were unforgettable, and renewed my faith in human nature.
"Mule-headed" they may be, but the farmers I met were also friendly and welcoming, warm and kind, generous and trusting.
I've never lived in MO, but I felt right at home there. :)

...I never thought there would be any place better than Colorado...we are rapidly becoming California...or worse...if Amendment 69 passes..."Free Health Care For All"...we won't be able to afford to live here anymore...I guess the wife and I will have to head to Wyoming...

The Great Lakes, the forests, the Independence of the people of the Upper Peninsula. the streams, and lakes. the cold weather. Michigan is were the Coney dog was invented. were the pasty is a complete meal.

Flint home to the coney dog, never been to the UP without having a pasty or 3. I have always enjoyed wading small streams fishing for trout. A long time since I dipped smelt, but it was as important as opening day of deer season. I could go on.

...my favorite place in Missouri...Alley Spring Mill...

Having lived in Ohio all of my life, I enjoy our 4 distinct seasons. Granted, each one has periods of gloom, but I love them nonetheless.
That being said, I have wonderful memories of times spent in most of our United States. I guess that's the beauty of where ever we live, the ability and freedom to make other states a temporary home, to enjoy their attributes. Wilderness grabs me and I long for more of it. So it's off to Colorado, or the UP of Michigan, your favorite places too.
Back in the '60's, I passed up a teaching fellowship in the mathematics department of the University of Montana, because of the Viet Nam war. I regret not taking that fork in the road.

What do I like about my home state? Good questions, I have no compelling reason to stay here, my kids are grown and moved away, have very little other family here. Our family farms have been sold, I could easily move on but I guess I love it because it is home.
Kinda like like this Merle Haggard song

I love Montana because
The story goes that Ford had a problem in MT. The headlights on the Futura kept shorting out but only in MT. Researchers documented that there was a real problem and finally realized that Montana was the only place where you drove with enough space between vehicles that you kept the brights on for a significant time to over heat them.
This is less true today but the reason I live where I do.
