My wife carry's me and a stink eye that will stop a charging bear it's tracks. She may be small but that eye will give a person pause.
My wife has a Ruger LC9. She doesn't care for wheel guns, but if she was going to carry one, it would probably be the Ruger LCR (chambered in .357 but loaded with .38 +P.) She liked mine better than any other small revolver I've owned, but still prefers a semi-auto.
For range fun, she likes a 1911, but not for carry.

My lady carries this, as she is afraid of carrying a gun. As a drunken joke i took this to the ribs. Not a bright idea. But with age comes wisdom and lets just say, I sometimes am more about wisDUMB than anything.

My better half carries a Sig P238, just the right size for her, little recoil and she shoots good with it.

A couple years ago I purchased a Sig P-238 for use as my pocket gun. Sweet Thing (a non shooter) came out to the home range one afternoon to bring me an iced tea. After quietly watching me shoot several mags, she said "Gee, that's a cute little gun. Can I shoot it??" One mag full, center of target, and I have no pocket gun. She now has her concealed carry permit and the P-238 goes everywhere with her. Another Lady with that evil eye, and something to back it up with.

Luscious carries an M&P 9C with the 12 round extended pinkie magazine in a Coronado Leather CCW hobo purse. She tried several handguns from 22 revolvers to sig sauer 40 cal and settled on the 9C because of the weight, balance, inherent accuracy for the price and the interchangeable grips.

Mine can carry a grudge pretty good.
My wife confiscated my Model 49 .38 Special shortly after I bought it. I sure miss it. I did, however find a Model 649 as a replacement, it's close but I'm a fan of "blue steel". And yes I tried to trade her. Me, "it's the same thing only in stainless steel.." her, "Then why are trying to give it to me?"

I usually tell her, "just nag them to death". she is not really a gun person but has fired some of mine and agrees to keep one handy if I'm not gonna be around or when she was called in to work at late hours. it's whatever I happen to give her, fully loaded and in a holster. something simple with no safeties (the way I like them too). she is told and understands the gun is to remain in the holster until her life is at risk. then and only then remove the gun from the holster, point it, like pointing your finger, at the largest part visable of the threat and squeeze the trigger until the threat is gone. usually it's some type of 38 special snubnose. her favorite was a colt agent alloy frame with pachmayer fingergroove grips. as for REVOLVERS UNDER 6" BEING FOR SISSIES, I guess there an awful lot of pro's that are sissies.
