I found a five screw K22 serial number k 3248 for sale yesterday. It is just a shooter not collector probably 50% with adjustable sights etc. The problem is the rubber grips...I have a fairly decent collection of old grips and wonder what it should have?
Thanks Charlie

Charlies, that is a very early K-22 and very desirable I might add. That one is probably a 1947 production and will have what we call a large ejector knob and one line address (made in USA on the side). The grips should be magna's which are the ones that kinda go up high (and cover the screw on the sideplate). They should be "high horn" which is what we call them when they have a rather sharpened outline on the top of the grips. You will need to check all the areas on that gun to see if they match in number... check the grips, the butt, the barrell flat and even the back of the ejector star. That sounds like a really neat gun. I also have one in the 29XX serial number range.
That one's keeper.

Roger, Thanks for the information ...I knew it was an early one, and all the the serial numbers match that I looked for.... barrel, and butt frame I forgot to look at the end of the cylinder...grips are rubber not original which is why I was asking what they look like hoping I had a set in my collection of grips.
regards Charlie

Charlies, your gun should be a good shooter. It has the tapered bbl and tapered rib on it. Mine is in the 7000 ser range and makes me look good when I shoot it. Mine also came with rubber on it and I put a set of diamond targets on it. They arent the origional style but they sure look good and fill the hand better. Enjoy it, Larry.

After test firing the Smith is now mine. I would only rate it about 70% with the rubber grips. All serial numbers match including face of the cylinder which I forgot to look for yesterday...it does have the larger bulb on the ejector rod. I paid 250. for a very smooth shooting and accurate K -22.
Thanks to all who gave me advice.
Charlie
