What gun and load did you use for your ccw test?

Winchester White Box 147gr. JHP 9x19mm out of my ex-VA Beach Sheriff's Dept. Glock 19. So accurate at seven yards, I shot the middle out of the bullseye and started shooting the NRA logo, the trademark, etc., just to have something to shoot until the range time was over.

You SHOT the NRA logo and weren't struck by lightning? The earth didn't open up and swallow you whole? A miracle. Simply a miracle.

Regards,

Dave

Is that gun marked "Virginia Beach" in some way?

In Kansas, the range portion of the class is as follows:
5 rounds at 3 yards, one hand
10 rounds at 7 yards, two hands
10 rounds at 10 yards, two hands

must hit 18 of the 25 on the silhouette.

I used a CZ-75 BD (9mm)with Fiocchi ball ammo. After about 15 rounds, my instructor stood behind me to make sure I wasn't "throwing" any rounds, as by this time there was only a single hole dead center on the target about 1½ across

. Love the accuracy of the CZ.

Sure is. It's got the badge marked on the slide. It was part of a shipment that Summit Gun Broker got in a couple of years ago. They get stuff like that all of the time, along with various interesting Smiths.

I shot my 4" Model 13 with 158 SWC handloads. We shot 48 rounds, I believe.

In NC you have to have an 8 hour course with some range time prior to being issued a CC permit. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. There were some real knuckleheads in there.

Expert 11X in 30 year career. CCW qual was a cake walk! Are you Regular or Reserve?

MGySgt (30 years active)
Sorry, I guess I can't PM here yet. Not enough posts maybe?
Active duty, I&I right now at a reserve unit here in Indiana.

Browning Hi-Power circa '60's with Speer GD hollow points, which produced the same effect on the target as would a single shot from a grapefruit cannon.

No qualification required here in Oregon, but if it was I would use my 3913TSW.

There is no "PM" function on this forum.
Many people provide their email address in their "Public Profile" and you can email them directly. That's a lot less costly than have a special PM area on the website. Lots of Forums are run a "Businesses" designed to make big bucks for the owner; this one isn't and that's why you don't see a bunch of Pop-ups and Banner ads all over this Forum. It's also why Parabellem is looking into the idea of charging a fee for use of the "Classifieds".

In Nevada you had to Qual with the weapon you are licensd to carry and could be licensed with several handguns
Last Qual 2004

15 Yards: Kel Tec .380, S&W Model 60, Glock 19

*I have qualified expert 6x (so far) with a Beretta 92 on the USMC qualification range.

USMC SSGT retired 1961-1971 I qualified

Expert 6 times with the issued 1911A1 .45 ACP
Expert 2 times with the M1 Garand
Expert 3 times with the M-14
Expert 3 times with the M-16
Also fired Expert with a BAR the 2 years I carried it.

For those that don't know USMC has to Qual with a basic service rifle once a year even If you carry a BAR or are assigned another weapon.

"every US Marine a rifleman"

Same thing in the Army. Everyone qualifies with the rifle. The big difference is that every Marine goes through rifleman's training IIRC. Many soldiers are not trained to fight with a rifle beyond basic rifle marksmenship and individual movement tecniques.

I shot mine with the only gun I owned at the time, a 4" 686. I used Federal 130gr. .357 Magnums. My wife used her 317 Kit Gun and we were the only wheelgunners in a class of 14-15 people.

I still have that 686 as it was my first gun.

It's a second generation gun without the finger grooves or light rail, neither of which I like, so it was perfect for me and VERY reasonably priced.

Back when I tested the first time for an Alaska CHP you had to qualify with the largest caliber you might carry for both revolver or pistol. I used a Colt Government Model 45 and a Smith & Wesson 625 with 45acp hardball. A few years later they dropped the requirement for caliber and action type.
