I use a .22LR. Aim for the base close to the tree and you'll get a larger chuck to fall out.

Funny you'd bring this up: I'm just about to go hike up Bear Canyon to bring down some mistletoe. I was probably just going to go with the Glock 43 that I've got AIWB right now, but then I wasn't planning on shooting it.

Geeze! Don't waste ammo on that. Just shinny up that lil o tree and pull that stuff by hand like a macho, macho man would do. I mean how high could it be?

It depends. If the mistletoe is held by the jaws of a bear, then we have a whole different thread.

I always went with a 20 gauge. You just want to scare it out of the tree; not destroy it.
Yep, that is why I said I was a 10 gauge man!!!!! Not to get the green stuff out of the tree.

Bow & Arrow seems about right to me.
I remember when I was a little Injun, we visited my uncle Roy. He had a farm and he'd shoot individual leaves offa trees with an old Remington .32 rimfire rolling block rifle.
I'm sure it'd work on mistletoe too.
