What is the difference between the 811308 811311 ?

Hello, I'm new here, and am thinking about getting an M&P 10.

I see on the S&W website, that they are the same gun, with the only difference being the 811308 model is listed as Gas Operated Semi-Automatic , and the 811311 is listed as Semi-Automatic.

I am just getting back into shooting after a long time off, and am not sure what the advantages are of one system over the other.

Any help to clear this up for me would be greatly appreciated.

Without looking it up, I believe one rifle is a standard DI operating system, whereas the other is a piston system.

Both are di gas systems--the 308 comes with a 20 rnd mag whereas the 311 comes with a 10 rnd metal mag. Same gun different mags to please local restrictions
