How about hunting? Anyone here load or buy a hot 45 acp to hunt with? When maxed out performance wise what are the numbers?
What are you going to hunt with a "maxed out 45 ACP." Here in Indiana handguns are legal for Deer. Some handguns that is. .44 Magnum and .45 Colt are legal calibers, .45 ACP is not. .45 ACP in a revolver can never be the equal of the longer cased rounds.
RIMZ poly moon clips are what I use for my 625 JM. NO tools needed. Great for range use. Do have metal ones also. Bob
I have never understood the rimless in a revolver thing, and not a single one of these replies changes that, especially as a reloader.
There's nothing a .45 acp can do that a .45 Colt can't, roll crimps included.
Moon clips? You can spend your time stuffing those or stuffing a cylinder.
And I personally don't like the longer forcing cones that are usually found on revolvers chambered for the shorter cartridges.
Cheers.
The deer hunting regulations vary widely from state to state. With so many new and used revolvers available there's no reason to chance using an illegal ctg.
Also no reason not to read and understand the regulations for each state and the region of the state your hunting in.
I will say that our regulations have become more complicated as time has gone on, but a lot of that deals with the various restrictions as to a which animals are legal to take in each of the over 200 districts split up into 7 regions and the legal boundaries of such districts.
When I first started hunting 68 years ago. a big game license cost $8 and include 2 deer, 1 elk and 1 black bear. Any 2 deer, any elk or any bear, no matter where in the state they were standing. Birds were another buck as was an antelope which you had to draw for.
Now the regulations have about 40 pages.![]()
