What is your ideal battery / armory of Revolvers and do you have it?

I have the complete battery of needed revolvers covered with spares for all the categories which matter to me.

Model 10 Heavy Barrel
Model 17
Model 29
Colt Detective Special

There are additional selections of revolvers that can and do stand in for the above but those four see the most frequent use.

I only have two S&W revolvers, one K frame and one J frame...a 65-3 3-inch and a nickel 49 2-inch, both are from the 1980's. Love them both...

While I’d love to have a few more wheelguns (particularly vintage N-frames), as far as shooting goes I’m squared away.
1944 Victory Model
1968 M-17 K22
1972 M-67 Glenn custom (6 bull bbl)
And an assortment of J-frame .38s
Two Charter Arms .44 Spl Bulldogs

My planning evolution has gotten me to this point. I don't feel a need to evolve any more.

Baby Chiefs 2" -- always at hand, home and away.

Baby Chiefs 3" -- always close.

640 Pro -- nearby.

547 3" -- nearby.

940 -- nearby.

460 ES -- nearby.

Ear protection -- nearby.

I like the 442 or the 642 AIWB coupled with an NAA .22 WMR in my pocket.

As always, I just need one more . . .

I've started to think about that NAA .22 WMR in the pocket for a BUG. I also wonder if someone makes a .38 special derringer....

I meeeeeeeean, that's how you do it. Excellent choices. I'm totally jealous. If the two I had could grow up into something better, that would be a good way to go.....

6" 617ND
2 1/2" 66ND
6" 686ND
8 3/8" 629-1
All I need to do is sell the 4" 66ND and pick up a 6" 686ND and everything will be as it should be.

Past 25 years or so I have gotten by quite well with:
1. S&W Model 34, 2", .22LR
2. S&W Model 64, 2", .38 Spl.
3. S&W Model 66, 4", .357
4. S&W Model 29, 4", .44 Mag.
5. S&W Model 629, 3", .44 Mag.

Those seem to take care of all my camping, fishing, hunting, and recreational needs. Doesn't mean that I will be letting go of:
6. S&W Model 19, 6", .357 Mag.
7. S&W Model 1950 Target, 6.5", .44 Spl.
8. S&W Model 29, 6.5", .44 Mag.
9. S&W Model 10, 3" HB, .38 Spl.
10. Colt Single Action Army, US Model 1873, .45 cal., 7.5" (1885)
11. Colt SAA Frontier Six Shooter, 5.5", .44-40 (1914)
12. Colt SAA, 5.5", .44 Spl. (1979)
13. Colt SAA Bisley, 5.5", .32-20 (1915)
14. S&W Model 37 Airweight Chief, .38 Spl.
15. Remington New Army, .44 percussion (1864)
16. Colt Model 1860 Army, .44 percussion (1862)
17. Colt Model 1851 London Navy, .36 percussion (1861)

I could probably spend some time rooting around the safe deposit box and find a few more worth hanging onto. Some are very useful, some are lots of fun, some are great investments. They're all good!

Current:
Model 66-8 2.75" (stock)
Model 617 4" (tuned, target hammer)
Model 66-8 4.25" (tuned, milled for moon clips)
Model 629 5" Partial Lug (custom cut barrel, tuned, DX style interchangeable sights)
Model 57 Classic (tuned, target hammer and trigger w/ stop)
All with a variety of grips to go around, usually VZ's or Altamonts that have been epoxy bedded.

Ideal:
Blued K Frame converted to .327 Magnum, partial lug, 5"
K-22 Masterpiece 6", gold bead sight
K-38 Masterpiece 6", gold bead sight
Model 27, any dash that gets me recessed cylinders.

Although I have a good number of K frame, one L, and one N, my carry revolvers are a 2 1/2" 66-5 (carried often), a 4" 686-0 (woods carry) and a 2" DAO 64-6 (carry rarely, coat pocket in cool weather for quick trips to the store). I have some older classic K frames that I would not like to lose in the event that I had to use one. For the same reason plus capacity, Glock pistols have taken over the home defense role at my place.
