What makes the M&P22 not Calif.-friendly?

To be sold in the state of California, any handgun needs to be safety-certified by a qualified testing lab. Once it passes it can be added to the DOJ-certified list, AKA "The Roster."
The default position is "not certified." If a manufacturer doesn't feel like paying the testing fees, the gun doesn't go on the list.

Bingo... and there is a thread on this... Kali will not see a M&P 22 unless Smith&Wesson changes the barrel.... sorry

Nope... I have 3k flawless rounds on my M&P 22... so far the other reports here are good.
Mine has been perfect also.

does the M&P 22 have a magazine disconnect? that's the other requirement for consideration to become CA-compliant.
as such, the gun can still be purchased under a single-shot exemption in CA if you have a 07 FFL willing to work with you.
the threaded barrel would have to go away though, obviously, and you'd need 10-round magazines.

Oops, I didn't know about the threads. That's obviously going to be an issue in this state.

Just curious, how serious is it to make a visit to Cali with one? Would we get in trouble (if discovered of course) on a vacation visit? Are there people LEOs inspecting guns for compliance at ranges and such?
Any firearms violation is serious and could affect your ability to own firearms in any state in future years. The only common-sense response to the implicit question here is, "Don't do it."
