It appears to be a K-38 Masterpiece, from the late 1940s to early-mid 1950s. This tapered barrel version was made with, then replaced by the untapered/wide rib version that was first called the "Heavy" Masterpiece.

The Pachmayr grip is a later addition, and the serial number would give you its age.

Agree w/OLDSTER and offer that the newer guns carried a Model 14 designation. It was the issued weapon of LAPD in the '60s.

Hey, Thanks to both of you. I must be getting senile in my old age. I have a K22 that looks just like the K38 in the pic.. If I had only looked at my K22 before asking the question. Thanks again guys. Fellow wants to sell it for $375.00, is it worth it?

If the other side looks like tthis side it is worth $375 all day long. I do advise you pull the grips before you make the deal. Those rubber grips trap moisture and there is often some rust starting under them. A correct set of diamond magnas should be avalible somewhere.

Going to meet the seller after lunch today to look it over. I will be sure to remove the grips and take a look, thanks for the heads up. I think it's an early 1950 or before model. Seller says it's in real good working condition.

Yes, about a 30-40% discount from its current value, even with the rubber stocks. It has a Target (wide) hammer and a standard width trigger, a common option for target shooting (for faster single action hammer cocking).

Run, Roland, run! :)

I did run and now it's mine.:) Seller was who I bought my K-22 from a while back, so in appreciation for that sale he knocked the price down on this one a little more. He is a good guy to deal with that's for sure. Anyway all #'s match and it locks up nice and tight. It is # K50020 and I am happy. Those old rubber grips fit me well, it's gonna be a shooter for me. Oh, I did take the grips off for a look and it's clean and rust free. Please don't think this is a safe queen, cause it's not. It has it's history of minor scratches, but I can live with them. It was taken good care of for a user gun. I better shut up and go play with it some more. Thanks for all the help everyone provided.

You did very well. VERY well. I have a K38 (14-3 IIRC) that I bought from a forum member a few years back. It makes me look like a very good shooter.

Lo felicito por la compra, aqui en Argentina por un revolver como ese piden de $700 a $900 y si tiene la caja y grip originales de $1200 a $1500,dependiendo de su estado de conservacion-
Perdon que escribo en español pero no hablo ingles.
Gracias.
