what optic are you using on you M&P 10?

Lots of forum members are using the Leupold 3-9x40 VX-R Patrol. Just wondering how you folks like it. Should I just start a new thread?

Night force NXS 3.5-15x50 F1 with H59 reticle mounted with LaRue QD. Sighted in for 200 meters. Stretched it out to 500 meters and was still hitting the silhouette using a rangebag as a rest. Incredible optic, incredible rifle.

My mp 10 might not be a sniper rifle but don't let anything out to 300 yds get in my sites I have the Burris fulfield 11 4.5 x14 with the ballistic plex with a burris mount now Im older than some on here and at 64 300yds is a long ways for me but my first shot out to 50 yds was dead center and when I move to 125 yds same thing and when I went to 300 I was a 1/2 in off center so I love both very much

Good Gawd. The M&P 10 ain't no LR Sniper Rifle so why all the scopes?

Get with it dudes, and slam an Eotech 552 XR308 Holo sight on it and ROCK!!!

Exactly what I was thinking!
I felt Like I way over did it with a 1.5-6X-40 scope!
A 1-4X would have been more than adequate, but I got a decent deal on a used scope that I couldn't pass up.
The scope will be mainly for deer hunting, and coyote shooting.
When target shooting, we shoot as much with the Troy HK style BUIS as we do the scope.
Want to add an Aimpoint T-1 red dot with a QD mount to the mix.
Am thinking about offset iron sights, as they are usable without removing the scope or red dot sight.

500 plus bucks for an Eotech... my PA scope and mount was under 300
my M&Ps mission might also be different than yours.

A close to intermediate range combat rifle may be ill served with a 4-14x rifle scope, but a intermediate to long range predator or target rifle will equally be ill served with a combat optic

not to mention my eyes don't do well with irons for precision work anymore.

but you know what? they not only make vanilla ice cream, they also make chocolate.

this is also the United States of want...not the United States of need ... and a free country...(for now at least)

Exactly what I was gonna say!
My M&P is primarily for deer and hog hunting
To each his own.

Different strokes for different folks. I enjoy trying my abilities at 500+ yds, so a holographic or red dot is not worth much. I am equipping my rifle for it's intended role, hence a scope, free floating handguard and bipod.

I prefer some middle ground. I have the Trijicon TA11E on top and really like the ability it gives me. I think the 3.5 is about the best all around for me. Course as my eyes get older, I might be trading it in for something with a bit more magnification.

For you younger guys that still have the good eyes, the Eotech and Aimpoint that work for you now; are great sights. As you put on some more years, you will find the single dot even x3 or x 6just will not get it. It is just a part of life, so you will find a sighting device some place between 3-9 or 4-12 is what you will need to be looking for.
On my MP10 with a Leupold VX. R4-12x50 Fire Dot and on a set of A.R.M.S # 22 H work just great for a 68 year old shooter. Enjoy your youth it’s shocking how fast it is gone. 

Well put!!!!!

Hey, it's supposed to be a "Lightweight 308 AR"

Exactly what I was thinking!

Like you, I got mine 'cause I liked the lightweight aspects of the M&P10. Been shooting mine on the range this Summer with a huge 10X scope just to test the accuracy and work up my reloads. However, now that the Fall is here, my Leupold 2-7 X36 is installed and ready to find a big bull in the heavy timber. This thing is gonna' fill my freezer soon enough!

Jake - would you recommend the Leupold Firedot? Any issues with battery life? I'm thinking about moving my ACOG to my AR10 and putting something like this on my SCAR 17. My eyes are 15 years younger than yours, but are showing their age, if you know what I mean...
