what optic are you using on you M&P 10?

Burris m-tac 4.5-14x42. Had the 1.5-6, loved it but decided to go with more magnification. Got an awesome deal on flea-bay. Pepr mount is great and all but it isn't light if your concerned about weight at all. Met a fellow at my local range, let him shoot the 10 and he fell in love with the scope (Burris m-tac 1.5-6)offered to buy it. Made upgrading much more affordable. 1.5-6 power is great for 223 or 556. Let's be real we all bought the 308 because it's a more capable round so get some real magnification on it from the start, you'll be glad you did.

I have a question on this topic, does anyone run a straight 10X? I'm hunting in SW Texas and would have shots from 40yds to 500. I'm thinking a 10x would be perfect???

10x is less than ideal for deer at closer ranges but it won't hurt to try it.

I have a Nightforce 2.5-10x32 on the Big Smith

Trijicon accupoint tr24-3g 1-4x24 sitting in a Bobro qd mount, love it.best optic i've ever owned.

Same here except I have the green triangle on a post instead of the cross-hair/dot combo. I use either Bobro or Larue mounts on all my AR's.

I have 10x SWFA SS on mine and it works great. 30 yards out to 500 would be easy work for this optic.

Thanks for the feedback! I actually went with a leupold vx-r 4x12 with illuminated fire dot for just a bit more. I have 2 SWFA scopes and really like em but wanted that reticle for low light pig hunting when they come in and scare all my deer off!

Vortex 1-4 PST. Best all around, one scope that does it all, IMHO.

Nikon Buckmaster

My M&P 10 should be here tomorrow and i have not decided on an optic. what is everyone else using and what distances are you shooting?

I put the Nikon Buckmaster 4x12 40 on at first try it worked great, after changing mags it lost its setting, readjusted everything's fine , lost again. Sent back to Nikon to old address on the instruction booklet, thought I was getting it back from UPS fixed, not so the dreaded return to sender, address unknown (not Elvis rendition) label on box. sent to correct address about 3 weeks later got it back haven't had a chance to go to the range, to darn cold. will post results

new option

I finally put enough coins together and replaced the Vortex Sparc red-dot with a Leupold VX-R 4-12x50mm mounted in a Larue LT104 QD mount. I sense a range day in the very near future...

The Sparc 2 is now an option and by all accounts is an improvement over the original Sparc. That said it like all other optics is not perfect as detailed in this review/guide Vortex Sparc II Review / HONEST BUYER'S GUIDE - YouTube for those considering a Sparc 2 aka Sparc II

People say a 308 isnt good for long range....it really depends on what you consider "long range".

Mine isn't a Smith & Wesson....but my Falkor AR10 308 with its Proof Research 1/4 MOA carbon fiber barrel, and a Vortex Viper 6-24x50 PST FFP.....will definitely reach out a touch you....lol

optic

I'm using a Leopould 2-7x33 VX-2 scope with a Leopould scope mount. They sell them both in a package deal.

Currently have a Vortex Diamondback 4x16 but have a Vortex Viper 6-24x50 PST FFP sitting in a box ready to go on.

That's cool! Definitely keeps the weight down for a solid little scope! Do you always keep the stock collapsed? Looks like the scope is far forward.

Primary Arms

Primary Arms 4-14X44mm - ACSS HUD DMR .308 Reticle

Reticle seemed a little busy at first but, after wrapping my mind around it (like anything else), I love it. Especially for $279 (including shipping).:)

Not sure how much optic you need, but I have a Vortex Strike Eagle 1x8 that I have mounted on my POF that is a very good glass, but it is also more of tactical style.
I used to be a Burris fan, but Vortex seems to have a little better clarity.
Since my choice is more of tactical nature and if you want really good glass, for huniting or target shooting go with Leopold or Vortex.
Cost becomes a factor, as well as weight, so look carefully, especially the mount.

I've got a Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x 40mm on mine with a vortex cantilever mount. Rifle is stock and shoots sub MOA at 100yrds, so it works for me. To be honest though, I really want more magnification. I'll probably change to a 4-14x or something similar in the future.

I put a Vortex 4x12x40mm AO Crossfire II with 1 inch tube on mine On my PSA AR 10.

I put a Primary Arms 1-6 x 24 with ACSS BDC reticle on mine. Just got it zeroed in. So far, I love it. The ACSS reticle has built in range estimation, and the BDC feature provides zeros up to 800 yards. And the best part, the scope and Burris P.E.R.P. mount were under $400 with a lifetime warranty. And as others have stated, it's not a long range sniper rifle. It's a quick response gun.
