What parts do you want made for the 15-22?

Ill be teaming up with an unbelievably talented CNC machinist with a 5 axis CNC machine. He is wanting to start making gun accessories for various different models. The first thing we will be working on is a buffer tube adapter for the 15-22p pistol.

Are there any other parts that the 15-22 community has been wanting?

Any input is appreciated!

Many have asked for an aluminum lower receiver....

That would be very easy to do. But i wonder if S&W has a patent or copyright on the design of the lower? I know its slightly different spec than a regular AR lower. I'm reminded of Pro Mag getting sued by S&W for the magazines they were making. Its something to look into though.

+1 on Firing pins!

A new selection of 15-22 specific handguards that require no modification to fit. Various lengths and styles. (wishful thinking:D
In particular a 11 inch hybrid handguard, like the SLR variants, thin and lightweight.)

I'd like to see some nicely designed front and rear take down pins.

The plunger for the extractor?

Perhaps some new hex mag or Pmag style magazines?

I could go on and on :D

An auto sear.

Obviously, a lot of laws would need to be changed first, but you asked. :D

An alloy buttstock, magpul style MOE or CTR might be nice.

Not necessarily for my smith but definitely in a milspec size and definitely a 12inch slim type lightweight front end.

MLOK or Keymod various colour options blah blah blah, but most importantly, one that CAN be sent to UK.

Like to see a metal upper to eliminate some of the polymer uppers flex.

And as said above a better firing pin!!

A milspec buffer tube insert would make adapting a folding stock to the carbine simple. Anything AR15 specific would be an option. I'm in!

The OEM "buffer tube" would need to be amputated (of course) and the new part have an od to id match but there are many more 15-22 rifles out there than pistols...='s more customers!

Who wouldnt want a folder on their carbine?

Why titanium for the firing pin?
Weight. The stock firing pin is pretty porky at ~80 grains. With a lighter pin you can run a much lighter (or no) firing pin spring so we'll get more reliable ignition without going to a heavier hammer spring.

I run titanium firing pins in my Ruger 22/45 Lites and Volquartsen Scorpion 22LR semi-autos leaving out the breakage prone firing pin spring and its' support.

But I'd be happy just having steel aftermarket firing pins available.

We will also be making MLOK and KeyMod rails to factory spec so there will be no gap when installing. We have a 3D laser scanner that costs $100,000 and ill be able to use my 15-22 rifle and pistol for the scans. Aluminum uppers, lowers (once he gets his FFL, class 3, SOT, and any other licenses he needs). The possibilities will be endless. He can mill anything out of any material imaginable. Keep the ideas coming guys.

Look for our aluminum free float hand guards that will fit the 15-22 perfectly.
No gap. No modification. Just install.
Different lengths will be available in KeyMod or M-LOK, plus other nice features that I can't go into yet.

Nice, i hope one of those features is the one i keep bleating on about ;) also that you would be able to ship across the pond. If so....then put me down on the list right now!

Anything HG wise that can be shipped to UK will be bonus just so that we can have options for swap outs. It has long been known I would do a swap out, just can't get them sent over.

Go guys, make em, license them, and get em coming!!!!

:D:D

"MANY" are asking for Alloy this and that, yet they complain about the weight. Everything except the barrel and trigger group is going to be Poly very soon, notice the evolution of pistols. Good advice for KevGuillot would be to start making molds for accessories.

I removed ""You all and replaced it with MANY"

Those that are not in the market yet

+1 for firing pin
+1 for plunger and extractor spirng

And most importantly, can be shipped outside your country 😁

Look into making a spacer block like NcStar/VISM uses when mounting a front guard to eliminate the gap between the upper and guard without modifying the lower. A similar part can be made to adapt Mil-Spec to the 15-22.

If you want to guarantee a sale to pretty much every 15-22 owner then a firing pin, the extractor plunger and spring and a bolt return spring are sure fire sellers.

These are the bits that are most likely to wear out (or blow out for the plunger) they are 'available' to the lucky few without having to send your gun back (which in the UK is unfeasible) to S&W but not to most mortals.

Personally i would like to see some aftermarket mags that work reliably and resemble Pmags or hex mags for aesthetics.

Not sure on the copyright/S&W patent issues you would run into producing any of these things. I wish you all the best in your endeavours though.

I already have doubled the cost of the rifle in the trigger and red dot. It's as reliable as anything out there, especially with the VQ extractor so I'm pretty much content with it. It's a 2 moa gun no matter what you do unless you go all 10/22 on it and spend money on a new barrel and an aluminum receiver. I suppose it could be made lighter with a carbon fiber forend but i doubt I'll ever be good enough to notice the difference. Same with a titanium firing pin. I can't outshoot the stock firing pin with a hiperfire trigger, doubt a lighter one will make me faster. Even guys from TK admit 99.9% of shooters won't notice the difference. I would be nice to have a spare as well as a spare set of springs but I got to many other guns I want to mod.

A Ti firing pin for sure but it must be the same configuration as the old original Ti pins.

I took my wife out to shoot her new 15-22 that I got her because she liked mine so well. The new gun was suffering from lite strikes about 1/3 of the time. I put my bolt in her gun and it ran great. I stripped both bolts to do a comparison and the old gun that has always ran anything I put in it and did so with a lite weight hammer spring has a Ti firing pin. The new gun has a steel firing pin that is .060" shorter than the old Ti pin.

Make a Ti pin to the same specifications as the original Ti pins and you won't be able to make enough of them.

S&W played this stupid game on the frame mounted firing pins in revolves, making them shorter and shorter until they were unreliable. Now the revolvers are back to longer pins again. They need to go back to the old design in the 15-22.

How's this working out? Has anything been made?

I would be cautious about investing much in aluminum uppers and lowers. If folks wanted that they'd have bought a CMMG complete upper and standard AR lower to begin with.

I'll be curious to see how things go. Best of luck and please keep us updated.
