Given that were firing 22LR here and I know wind can knock it around....what kind of ranges are you guys accurately firing your 1522?

When the weather gets nicer I'm hoping to finally get it scoped to 100 yards, but wonder if anyone has shot farther then that with any kind of accuracy.

You can shoot .22LR pretty accurately out to about 200 yards depending on the shooter and the rifle. The average person is probably limited more to 100 - 150 yards.

The ammunition ballistics and lethal range have to be considered as well. Not all rounds are equal out to a given distance. Punching paper is easier than, say killing a squirrel, and easier to puncture at longer distances.

It also will depend on if you are using iron sights or and optic. If shooting with iron sights, I would sight in at 75 yards instead of 100 and here is why: Sight-in Your .22 Rifle At 75 Yards! If using an optic, it will depend on the manufacturer's recommendations. If they have none and you are using a standard cross hair reticule, a 75 yard zero might still be the way to go.

I have seen youtube vids of 400 yards from a 15-22....that to me would be the exception. 100 yards given the right ammo and right conditions....then tin cans would be no problem with either a scope or red dot or irons. The 15-22 is not a tack driver so hitting bullseyes at 100yards every time is a long-shot (pun intended) but hitting a can or balloon or steel plate...then not an issue at all.

I don't hunt at all, so mostly would be going though paper targets or clay targets. Most outdoor ranges near me are limited to 100 yards. Trying to find one that goes out further to do some longer distance shooting since I have some higher calibers rifles as well. Just wanted to see if the Mp1522 would be able to keep up.

The bullet will go father than your eyes can see. Shooting 4" rocks at 200-300 yds at a sand pit can be done, 1st couple rounds to lock in. than have fun. I wouldn't hunt more than 150yd

Have my Nikon P-22 BDC reticle scope on 15-22 sighted in at 50 yards. Accurate at 100 yards using the BDC marks and CCI round nose bullets. Haven't shot it further than that.

I think for grouping and ballistics 100 yards. My gun shoots about 2moa at 100 yards but i habe done alot of ammo teating to get there. Interceptor.is what is most accurate out of my gun at those.distances.

spiderpig: My Son and I bought two S&W 15-22`s when they first came out. I was told that the earlier models had Match Grade Barrels on them. And I kinda think that is correct. We Hunt and Shoot 22 Action Matches with ours. The farest we have shot our S&W 15-22`s is about 200 yds. Our Gun Club has a 200 yd range, and on the berm Club Members lay out Clay Pigeons. And we also have a 12 to 15 inch Steel Gong. Hitting the Steel Gong is fairly easy. And hitting the Clay Pigeons and the Broken Pieces is not that hard to do and they are a hoot to shoot at. IMHO Our S&W 10-22`s are very well made and extremely accurate.
