So my buddy bought a 686 2.5 snub ( early gun -no hole) and it's shooting really low. Cranked up the rear sight leaf to get it shooting well but something ain't right. Front sight is stock and fixed. Not pinned. I suspect the rear blade is too short. My 4 inch no dash I believe is a .146? Wonder if this one should be .160 or I saw a .196 somewhere. Any thoughts? Thanks

That's a good question. Height measured from top to bottom of the screw mount or from top of blade down to the windage "tube"?

Move the sight "slide" all the way to thee left and measure the height of the portion sticking out past the base, that is the height of the slide in the gun now. If it shoots low when raised up then you need the next higher slide kit. If the current slide is .146 then you need a .160 kit. Be sure to order a spare plunger and spring, or two! you are likely to lose it. Instructions are included with the sight kit. CALL S&W customer service, 800-331-0852 to buy parts. They will ship faster, charge less, and not charge shipping! Far better than any of the after-market retailers!
