Longest owned,,a Webley MkVI I think. Had to think about it a while. I sold or traded earlier ones off, this is the earliest handgun purchase I can think of that I've managed to hold on to.
Still in .455, 1918 mfg, and came with the holster and belt & a few loose Kynoch cordite rounds from a guy trolling a gun show w/ it for sale. Said it was his Grandfathers revolver from WW1,,never knew if it was true or not as there's always a story it seems with an old military pistol. IIRC there's a name on the leather somewhere.
I offered him $65 for it. He said he'd think about it and walked around some more. Came back later and asked if I was still interested @ $65. I was. That was in the mid 70's I think.
Most figured I was crazy to spend that for a Webley. I kind of liked them. Still have it so I guess I do.
I shoot it once in a while, no storys of defending against hostiles or anything like that..
