What S&W Revolver do you regret letting go of the most?

Was wondering what S&W revolver people regret letting go of (sold, traded, etc.) the most. Or had the opportunity to get a certain one, but let the opportunity slip and now regret it.

For me, it was declining to purchase my friend's half-lug blued 8 3/8" Model 29 many years back.

I could of purchased an Airweight, M12-4, 2-inch barrel, and let it pass. Haven't seen one for sale since! I also passed on a M27-2 w/ a 3-1/2" barrel that someone had hard-chromed, for $475. Would have made a good boonies/truck gun! There are probably more that my mind won't let me recall!

A 625 Mountain Gun in 45 Colt. Deep S&W bluing with some nice Ahrends grips. It was a new production gun with the lock but, I only bought it back then cause it was kind of limited and 95% of S&W's revo's were/are stainless. Sold it cause I didn't need another new caliber at the time.

I let a 520 go to forum member, but I just got one, just as nice, back from another forum member. Now I'm happy again.

Hi,
I regret trading my 686-3 4 inch. I did get in exchange a 5903 third generation for my 686 but still miss the 686. I will probably get another one at some point.

Several. My department-issued Model 19 from 1972, when we transitioned to autos I could have bought it for $100 and didn't.

My 5" Model 27 from about 1965. Sold that one to pay some medical bills in the mid-70's.

I bought a WW2 US Property Victory Model in unissued condition about 1975 for $40. I don't remember what I traded that one for.

I bought two Model 36 2-inchers on a letter head purchase in 1972, delivered for $92. Carried them for 10 years or more, then traded them away on something else that I had to have.

I was given a 6-inch Model 57 in the presentation case in 1982. Needed to raise a little cash so I sold it for about $250.

Raising kids, paying the mortgage, there were times that it was hard to hold onto some things.

p&r 4" 629, 2" blue kit gun RB (first handgun I bought), 6.5" 29-2 Blue, 6.5" 29-2 Nickel, 4" 29-2 Nickel, and my "Miami Vice" 645.

Only reason is it costs mroe to replace now than I gave for it and what I got for it is gone.....

Its a toss up between my 686 CS-1 3" and my 625 3". Yes, it was really stupid to let either of those go. I did, years ago, and now I really miss them.

I regret selling a factory ported 66-6 with an assembly number of 0666 it looked just like this one.

It's a toss-up between the first Smith & Wesson I ever owned, a Model 18 or a Model 25 .45 Colt that I let a friend talk me out of.

I've only owned two revolvers. Yup, just two. My current EDC and the one I sold in the early 80s.

It was a nickle Model 29 with 8 3/8" barrel. Came in a nice presentation case with sight adjuster and cleaning brush.

That would be my very first Smith & Wesson, a blued Model 29 that had a 6 1/2 " barrel. Still the most accurate Smith I can remember owning. But I was 20 years old and didn't know what it was that I had. After looking at the prices of those same guns recently, I don't see myself getting another anytime soon.

The three that haunt me at night are the two I sold, and one I passed on.

The very first gun I owned, an early model 36 beat all to hell but, you never forget your first.

Second was a really nice model 520.

And lastly was a 4'' model 29-2 in nickel I saw in a gun shop case some years back for $450 sticker. It hurts to even talk about it now.

Top of my list would be any of the various M57's I've owned over the years. Next would be any of the M25's. I've owned at least three of each, a couple with wooden boxes. A strong third would be my 6" 686, one of the few firearms I ever bought new.

The ones I turned down only to regret would be a Stainless J frame 3" in 22 mag with adjustable sights. A friends dad built it as his final project at the S&W factory gunsmith school. There was also a M14 that the same person used to qualify Distinguished, twice, that I turned down because what did I want with a 38 Special? This is too painful, I gotta stop.

Either the original M1917 I swapped for a jam-o-matic Springfield Armory M1911A1, or a beautiful Mod. 25 in 45LC that I swapped away. . .Ugh.

I had one of the first Model 640 .38 Centennial revolvers with "Made for +P+" stamped on it, and sold it to a friend. I understand they are very collectable now.

I deeply regret letting go of a M-58, M&P, .41 mag.

I had a pair of 624's. One 6" and one 3". Should have kept them both. And then there were all of those model 27's..
