What S&W Revolver do you regret letting go of the most?

I'm sorry, but after reading these stories I can't seem to stop rubbing my eyes at the thought of..................waaaaaahhhhh.

..............waaaaaaaaaahhhhhh.....waaa...waaa......waaaaaahhhhh... fart.... Oopsies..,

Every single one of my Smiths. Models 10 (2"/4"),13 (3"),19 (4"),29 (6.5"),57 (4"/6"),58(4"),60(2"),64(3"),65(3"),66(4"),442(2"),629(4"),657(6"/6.5"CH),651(4"),6906 with the exception of my Sigma .380. It worked but wasn't up to Smith revolver standards and I didn't like the gutter sights.

I've never sold a revolver, but I've only owned two :D

That said, with no job after moving and family needs, I might have to sell my 66-4 4" or my Brazilian 1917.

The 66 came from a former boss (passed in 2003) and was my first duty weapon, also what I used in my first instructor class.

The 1917, well, it's just cool and I'd hate to see it go :(

I'd have to say it was my 3" M-13. I got it when they first came out, and it shot great. Why did I get rid of it? There must have been something else I wanted.

There are three I can't forget. The first was my original duty weapon, a Model 28 4" that got me through the academy and my probationary year. Next would be the 5" 38/44 Outdoorsman. I bought it because it was dirt cheep and I just like 5" N-frames. Sounds stupid but I got bored just shooting 38 Specials through it. I was young and dumb and didn't know about the real performance of the 38/44 loadings. Finally, along with some other guns I sold a 3.5" Model 27-1. Got a big tax bill from the IRS about 5 years ago and had to come up with cash fast. You'd think I would have gotten smart enough after the first two but no, sold the dash one anyway. Dang!

Here's to all the nice revolvers I have sold over the years but I never second guess myself. What is gone is gone.

625

I owned a Model of 1988 five inch 625 for 36 hours, took it back and traded it on a 625JM, costing more, no longer have that...why? I went on line and learned that with the five inch barrel, I couldn't use it for IDPA matches....

Guess who has never entered an IDPA match, 5 years later?

My 2 1/2 66 and 49 no dash I both bought new back in the mid 80's. I hope someday to buy another 2 1/2 66 someday!

I regret selling my seldom-fired S&W Model 13-2 .357 Magnum, but at least I kept it in the family. Sold it to my son-in-law.

I kick myself every time I think of the 25-7 I sold. It went to a good buddy when I needed some money but there's no getting it back from him. I swear - he'll probably get buried with it.

Best Regards,

Back in 1981 or 1982 I visited a Big shop in NJ that had either two or three NIB M-16 K-32's in the case. They had the shelves literally running over with used revolvers...many of them PD trade ins.

Forget the price on the K-32's but it was more than reasonable. At the time I wasn't into collecting so other than noting the rarity I didn't do a thing. DID buy a LNIB 19-3 , #T's with correct box. If I recall correctly I paid $325 or $350 WITH shipping back to MT. DO still have that pistol.

I regret letting go of my 637 snub. One .38 I loved to carry iwb felt great.

My Late Fathers PPC Model 15. He was gunsmith and made it him self. Nice heavy barrel, Bomar rib sights and a slick as silk action job. Had a wonderful matte blue finish and Rogers Combat grips. I do not know where it ended up as the dealer I sold to is now pasted on as well. If I every see it again I will know it.

I had a very nice 4" Model 57 that I got for two fifty. I had to sell it about 5 years later for three fifteen when money got tight. I do miss that gun sometimes.

Walked away from a 4" Triple Lock in a little gunshop in Northern CA in 1965. Eventually found another but it was a restoration project and not nearly as nice.

Bought a Model 19 around 1973 or so for work, but thought it kicked too much with full Magnum loads and let it go before getting smart enough to make haste slowly. Eventually wound up with a Ruger 4" Security Six as a duty gun and carried that for many years. It was sturdier than the M19 but not nearly as elegant.

Recently picked up a decent police trade-in M19-3 of the same vintage; it's been around but will make a first class shooter.

I've probably disposed of too many really nice guns but the ones I have I really appreciate. Life's too short to dwell on the those that got away.

My 19-3 (or 4?) blue 2 1/2 inch Model 19 that I carried while an investigator with the Sheriff's Department in the mid 70's. I had replaced it with a 39-2 that I still have and traded it for a rifle to gift to my father.

The only other Smith I've ever let go was a new in box 66 4" that I traded for the 39 -2 and two holsters, and reloding dies and supplies, and some cash when the FFL's couldn't get them but we could through the Sheriff's Dept. for around $148 or $168.

Then there was that unfired Python bought through the Department for just over $200 that I also traded for the rifle and not enough cash at the Greensboro Gun Show!

I now have decided that I do not sell handguns. I always end up regreting it, and I've got grandchildren that need to have something to remember me when I'm gone.

For me it was a 3" M-13 with a lime green insert in the ramp front sight. It was priced right and LNIB. I had my wallet out - but I just couldn't get past the lime green insert. Now I realize I could have had it switched out for a red one. PEN
