What the heck is this?

It almost looks like something to "set" the teeth on a handsaw, but I can't see where the saw blade would clamp into it.

I think you may be on to something.

rimfired, LOL, I like to spit my water on my monitor when I read your response, I think my ex picked up a production model...

The situation is getting pretty darn serious when nobody on THIS forum has a clue! It didn't take this long for somebody to figure out what that funny looking Avocado sticker/skinner/deseeder thingy was a couple of weeks ago.

I'll set the teeth on your bandsaw blade fer ya.

Well..thanks but I pass on the offer. Never in my wildest dreams would I have guessed the ultimate answer. Having been a machinist 40 years ago, I thought maybe that thing bolted on the end of a lathe and feed some sort of stock.

I was going to guess it was for setting the teeth on circular saw blades.

I believe it is used to make rope.

That is what it is I believe, a rope maker. I saw a home made one that looked like it had about the same action. I could be wrong. I have got to find something to leave my son like that so he can try to figure out what it is. My dad was a tool and die maker and I have a lot of tools/thingies that about which I haven't a clue. Wonder why Dads do that? I wish he was here to ask.
Peace,
gordon:D:D

Check the link in post 48. It's a narrow bandsaw blade tooth setting machine. I even tested it on a sawzall blade because I don't have a narrow bandsaw blade but it works. It probably belonged to my grandfather at one time. if I'd seen it while my dad was still alive I could've asked him about but this way was fun.
