Well...tonite my oldest son and I went to the indoor shooting range...he has just bought a new Beretta .380....and I shot my carry pistol...Beretta model 84....380...after 100 rounds it raised a blister on my trigger finger.....SO....im seriously considering carrying my S&W .45 Mountain Gun.....do any of you guys carry anything that big as your concealed carry.?..by the way.....my son outshot his old man so bad it was embarassing..!!....////just wanted an opinion from you guys as to carrying a .45 Mountain Gun concealed..??.....I have fired it and it is so dang easy to fire...and is very accurate....not heavy at all......anyway.....weigh in on your opinions and advice....its appreciated.........Gerhard

For several years I carried a 629 mountain as a duty weapon. It was fine in that regard but just too heavy for my taste as a concealed weapon. I now carry a 329PD daily and it works for me. The weight was more of an issue than the size. If the weight doesn't bother you go for it. With full power magnums the 329 gives me blisters!

Sometimes I carry my 625 SAC Mountain Gun and frankly it's the lightest thing I'll ever carry. Now I find I'm carrying the 3" full lug 625 more often, and it's definitely heavier (and feels it) than a Mountain Gun. From a concealment holster, that extra inch of barrel takes longer to clear the leather. At first I didn't think that would be such a big deal, but every little bit helps.

I had Black Hills leather make a high ride/ strong side for my SW 500 4". I use an aker belt with the polymer liner- about 45$ from Galls. I got it for hunting since other holsters carried the gun too low and it would hit bottom of the holster. I like it so much that it becomes my "carry" gun during bear and deer season. It is very comfortable with the good belt and the way the weight is spread by holster, even with the light 350 gr XTP's. 625 mountain should be no problem

Is the blister due to a serrated trigger? If so, you can have the serrations taken out by a gunsmith.

I am medium build and I can carry a 4" N-frame very comfortably in an El Paso #77 Tortilla OWB holster. Conceals with an un-tucked T-shirt or a vest.

Problem Solved..!!!

After weighing all the pros and cons of carrying the Model 84..Beretta .380...or a Browning Hi-power...Mountain Gun....even a .45 Auto......just went back to my S&W Model 36-1.///....J Frame with a 3 inch barrel......Galco makes a Real Neat 6 round Ammo Holder that folds over your Belt.....so small no one would guess you are carrying extra 6 rounds........Hey...anything over a 11 round shoot-out.....would be a major shoot out anyway.......the Model 36 with the 3" inch barrel is light...easy to carry....and i put some oversize grips to fit my bigger hand.......easy to conceal.......and with the Hollow Points that have the peculiar looking little "needle" down inside...(Ive heard these referred to as "secret service loads".....they should handle just about any situation.....I do appreciate all the advice and response..........Gerhard

Gerhard, I purchased that Galco ammo holder as well, and for the same reason that you did: it doesn't draw attention. In fact, with a matching belt (black on black), you can barely see it. Yes, it would be much slower to reload than a speedloader, but I would be ducking for cover at that point anyway, God forbid that I need it.
