What was the last movie you saw, and did you like it?

The Flowers of War...about the Rape of Nanking during WWII. Good movie.

My wife and I had a date night and went out to see The Grand Budapest Hotel. my wife loves quirky comedies and this one didn't disappoint ! I actually thought that it was quite funny myself.

I saw the Reacher film. It was a pretty good rendition of the Lee Child's novel, but they missed the bad guy's background by a country mile, which would have explained his ruthlessness to the audience.

On another note, I saw this sci fi flick last summer, and found it very thought provoking.

Master and Commander --- Liked it.

Also saw F A R G O on TV the other night --- OK, but I like the TV show better....

Last movie I saw was War Horse. It was OK but I thought it was a lot more graphic than it needed to be.

Im stuck only watching classic Westerns lately.Recently seen: Comanche Territory w/Maureen O'Hara etc, and last night before beddiebye time--Whispering Smith w/ Alan Ladd.Im not a big Ladd fan but, he was excellent in that movie.

In a theater about 15 years ago. Prices were getting ridiculous and too many problems like obnoxious people and it morphed from beepers going off to cell phones. Nuff said!

WE have HBO and watch it if there is something worthwhile to see on occasion. I think the last movie I watched was a repeat of "The Hunt for Red October" or FMJ.

Saw "47 Ronin" tonight, the one with Keanu Reeves.

I thought it was ok, Keanu Reeves did not add a lot to the story, I thought.

Many good performances by the supporting cast though.

Solid 3 out of 5. Enjoyable, even if you know how it ends.

I just got back from a matinee showing of Godzilla. Ol' Biggun is back and in top form! :D
No spoilers, but whatever you think the story is.... you're wrong! ;)

I think the movie has a giant monster in it. I think there will be lots of shooting and explosions. Am I wrong? Isn't that why we go to movies like that? If it doesn't have that in it, I'm not going!;)

Looking at the first post I guess it wouldn't have to be current.

Last 4, all filmed in the Boston area and excellent if you like this type of movie, which I do.

The Town
Conviction
Mystic River-Directed by Clint Eastwood
The Departed

Conviction is a true story and everyone should see it.

As an aficionado of big game hunting stories by Capstick, Ruark, Corbett, etc., I chose to view the film "The Ghost and the Darkness" last eve, which was purported to be an accurate portrayal of the lions of Tsavo man-eating tale. After 42 minutes of wasted time I will never receive a credit on, I switched the film off ... it was such Hollywooden dreck, I simply couldn't watch it a moment longer. From the outset, the film injected nonsensical fantasy and fiction into a story I have read numerous times. I expect little from Hollywood in the modern age, and this cinematic slop delivered even less than my expectations. Too bad I didn't find this out nearly 20 years ago when the film was originally released. I could have saved myself the time back then.

Fortunately the night was saved by "Beware: Mr. Baker", a wonderfully entertaining documentary on drummer Ginger Baker. If you remember the band Cream, and know of Baker, the film is well worth the viewing. Not many artists have such an uncanny melding of talent and torment within themselves as Baker. How he has survived this long is remarkable ... and his drumming prowess is still amazing.

If you're expecting a quality film portrayal of a book you've enjoyed, you're sadly mistaken. I have yet to see any movie made from a book that was true to the book.

The Ghost and the Darkness was a movie I enjoyed, but I haven't read any of the literature associated with it. This is common among movies made from book. Those ignorant of the book often enjoy the film.
