What was the last movie you saw, and did you like it?

Watched "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence" tonight on Amazon Prime.

John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart, directed by Mr. John Ford.

What else does one have to say.

An excellent film.

The wife and I watched Lone Survivor last night. Even back when it was first announced, I was not happy with Wahlberg being picked to play Marcus Luttrell. But I have to say, other than a few gun goofs and seeing a crew member through the cloud when they threw the smoke grenade, it was one bad *** movie.

Watched an Armada of Pitrate movies this month. Will be back in a few days with titles and pictures. :D

Jersey Boys

My wife and I enjoyed it but it was not a great movie. The script was kind of choppy and you had some struggle to connect the dots. I was way less interested in the personal stuff and wished for lots more of their fabulous list of hits.

"Under The Skin" starring Scarlett Johansson. Pretty strange movie. If you're really bored and can watch it free, it might be worth 108 minutes of your time.

Saw "winters tale" lastnite. Chick flick of some sort good for the wife. It's about the devil and good.

Of course my AGI S&W revolver armorers DVD arrived and I'd rather be watching that.

I think tonight it's the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. A tribute to Eli passing away.

I been watching the Russian made war movies but I wish they were sub titled on you tube.

We watched Muscle Shoals last night - a documentary that was fantastic - about the music that came (and is still coming) out of Muscle Shoals Alabama. Highly recommend it and we're going to buy the CD sound track - great southern rock and roll, gospel, soul, and so many of our favorite performers. Watch it!

Watched "Fargo" the 1996 Cohen Brothers film, free on Amazon Prime.

Just got home from "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" - really enjoyed it. Much better than the James Franco one of a few years ago.

The technology has even improved - only a couple times did the apes look CGI-ish - mostly just the little baby one. The other apes were suitably menacing.

A couple of Smiths make appearances - the first shot is fired by Kirk Acevedo out of some kind of custom shop N-frame. Hard to tell in this picture but the front sight is set back behind a built in compensator:

In the movie there is a nice side shot when he cocks it and you can see the firing pin is hammer mounted.

There's a quick shot of a heavy barrel 4" Smith with fixed sights in a drawer. Probably a Model 10, but since the movie is set in San Francisco I'll just tell myself its an old SFPD Model 58.

Of course, all Ruger fans know there is only ONE gun for bagging the great apes:

I watched the 2D version, but I may go back to see it again in glorious 3D.

I am planning on seeing "America" this Tuesday.... I have also offered every friend that leans left to go see it with me and I will pay their way.

We rented "Lone Survivor" on Redbox.

Neither of us liked it. I ejected the DVD about half way through the engagement scene.

I just did not think it was a very good film.

On the other hand, we also rented "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit", which we thoroughly enjoyes.

Life of Pi

It absolutely sucked. You watch two hours of the adventures of a boy and his tiger then find out the whole thing is an allegory about finding the best in all religions.

That in itself wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't billed as a kids movie. I really don't like the Hollywood Intelligentsia shoving propaganda down my kid's throat like that

Both from Redbox, had a 2 for 1 coupon, so cost us a whopping $1.28 for both movies:

"Ride Along" starring Kevin Hart. I thought it was hilarious. 3 out of 5 stars.

"Robocop" with Gary Oldman in a supporting role. Pretty much what you'd expect from a 'Robocop' remake, which is to say while I enjoyed it, it was not exactly Citizen Kane.

Just watched Lone Survivor from NetFlix. I'd have given it 5 out of 5 stars but I read the book so I'll give it 4 out of 5. They grossly misrepresented or left out some key facts/information. I'd also rather a different actor than Wallburg play the lead (and no, not TOM the girly man Cruise ;rolleyes: )
