U.S. Army for 2 years, 7 months, and six days- September, 1966 to April, 1969. SP-5 (E-5) was the top for me.
I was assigned to an assault helicopter company where the promotions came quickly. There was never the least little bit of "maybe I'll make a career of this." Never. After 1 year, 10 months, and 1 day, they sent me back to the US to continue my career as a civilian.
I actually got a re-enlistment talk in a bunker one night. The major said something like "Ladies, I have to give you this little talk every six months so listen up and try not to let the loud noises outside keep you from paying attention."
