What Was Your Rank

Sp/4 within a year, would I do things differently knowing what I know now...probably. I actually liked the Army and remember well the date when I would have been eligible for retirement had I stayed in, I bailed after 3 years and 8months.
I had it made in the shade with my MOS and my boss (CWO-3) that ran the motor pool offered to put me on the fast track for warrant officer school, yeah I would have done things differently if I only knew then what I know now. Ah youth....

U.S. Army for 2 years, 7 months, and six days- September, 1966 to April, 1969. SP-5 (E-5) was the top for me.

I was assigned to an assault helicopter company where the promotions came quickly. There was never the least little bit of "maybe I'll make a career of this." Never. After 1 year, 10 months, and 1 day, they sent me back to the US to continue my career as a civilian.

I actually got a re-enlistment talk in a bunker one night. The major said something like "Ladies, I have to give you this little talk every six months so listen up and try not to let the loud noises outside keep you from paying attention."

I have always been puzzled by a guy pulling, say,16 or 17 years, and getting out for good. Of their own choice.
Right on the edge of retirement with pretty good benefits, they change their mind.
I refer to the time back a ways, when 20 years got you, I believe, full retirement.
