When I was 17 in March 1974 they opened up a new gun shop next to the college I was attending and went in to see what they had. And in the showcase was a beautiful 5" barrel nickel 27-2 sitting with the princely pricetag of $199. I fell in love immediately with it and wanted it, but you had to be 18 to buy a pistol. I talked with the owner and he let me put it on layaway for a month until I turned 18. So in April after my birthday, I went in and finished paying the balance owed and I had my first pistol and my first S&W. I still have the old girl and she still is alive and kicking (Literally).
