What & When your 1st. S&W

When I was 17 in March 1974 they opened up a new gun shop next to the college I was attending and went in to see what they had. And in the showcase was a beautiful 5" barrel nickel 27-2 sitting with the princely pricetag of $199. I fell in love immediately with it and wanted it, but you had to be 18 to buy a pistol. I talked with the owner and he let me put it on layaway for a month until I turned 18. So in April after my birthday, I went in and finished paying the balance owed and I had my first pistol and my first S&W. I still have the old girl and she still is alive and kicking (Literally). :D

My Dad gave me my Grandpa's Victory Model about 15 years ago. It's the same gun they taught me to shoot with when I was 5.
I can still remember Grandpa placing each cartridge in my hand and showing me how to load it, then placing his hand over mine as I fired it for the first time...My kids now shoot it with me and my Dad, & I know we're building similar memories for them!

My first s&w. Is the sdve 9mm great entry lvl s&w

Got my grandpa- n-law's model 67 w/ 4" barrel in 1980. Still have it but he is gone but not forgotten.

What was your first S&W and how old were you at time. This K-22 was mine
I got in in 1964 at 14 yr. old. It isn't a show piece anymore, I've carried it 50 yrs. Holster rig is old Larwance, expensive outfit at time. Doctor said my birth
would have be easier on my Ma if I hadn't favored Mex style holsters.

A model 27 in 1973 4" was my first, I traded it for a Python also 4" nickel two great guns. I recently got a Classic model 25 and have a 27 on layaway at Buds. Love my Smiths have a M&P 40, an M15 sport and a Model 17 Target model 6.5" 80's era

In 1977 6.5 inch 29's were quite scarce in my neck of the woods. I found one at lyles gunshop in kermit tx. mom went and bought it for me as I was only 18. $575 out the door, almost twice retail but its what I had to have. Still have the gun, Mom's long gone.

My first Smith was a 4516 that I bought in 1998 for $300. I sold it in 2001 to my brother for $250 to put money together to buy my HK USP compact 45, which I still have. No regrets there. My first Smith revolver was a model 27-5 with 5 inch barrel that I bought in 2013. Then I bought two more Smith revos in 2014. Love the revolvers!

S&W Model 36 bought from the Gil Hebard catalog in 1966 to carry in my flight suit in Vietnam. I foolishly sold that gun when I got out in 1970 but have since replaced it with an identical model.

1967,
S&W post war HD 5" Nickel finish , factory PD marked. $45

I went the extra $5 for the HD over a like new pre-war HE 38 5" for $40 on the shelf at the time at the same shop.
I did buy that HE and an 'S' prefix M57 4" NOS ($90 IIRC) from the same little place before the GCA68 said I was too young to buy a handgun. Then I had to wait till I was 21 to buy any more of them.

Don't have any of those 3 anymore.

My first S&W was and still is a 4" 28-2 with target grips. I got it around July or August 1981 when I had to send my 6" Colt Python in for service.
