Situation: :D
You have only been to the range one time this year and are itching to get in an hour or so at the range.

You had a late breakfast and are not hungry.

You leave for the range at about 11:40am.

As you are pulling into the range parking lot at approximately 12 noon you receive a text message from your wife who is at work. She is wanting to know if you would like to go out for lunch.

You had dropped your wife off at work that morning, she has no car available at work that day. There is a tiny, two table, very limited selection 'deli' on premises that she uses on occasion. And of course the vending machines in the lobby.

There was no pre-arrangement to meet for lunch.

There is time if you were to turn around and head to your wife's work location (20 minutes) that you two could do lunch within her available time for lunch. If you choose this option you will not be able to get back to the range later that day.

You have done the lunch thing with your wife two times in each of the last three months.

You are not hungry.

12:05pm you are sitting in your car in the range parking lot. Your fully packed range bag is sitting on the passenger seat with three revolvers and one semi calling your name. You are staring at your phone with your wife's text message on it wondering what to do...

Do you:

a) text her and tell you are at the range and can't make lunch.

b) turn around and meet her for lunch.

c) reply to the message after your range session at approx. 1:30pm

d) call her and explain the situation hoping you will hear the magical, 'oh it's ok, don't worry about it'.

take her to lunch, you will always find time to shoot again, but your wife is something precious. i hate to get sappy but you never know when the good Lord can call someone home.

Mine doesn't do that sort of thing to me. That's how I know she's a keeper.

I don't have to worry about that either. Not that she wouldn't do that mind you, she certainly would. But two reasons it's not gonna happen. (1) She retired two years ago so she's not at work. (2) She can NEVER find her stupid phone. When I want to reach her I always have to call one of the kids.

I'd act like I didn't see the text until after lunch. Perhaps this is why my wife called off our marriage.

Gotta be differnt'

Sorry I couldn't answer the poll, But I don't agree with any of the answers. My Sweety and I "usually" plan ahead. If a last minute thing came up, She would text and I'd reply back that I just got to the range and am very stoked about it and WE will find a way to make it all good later. I'd apologize and say I'd call her after I'm done. On the way home, I'd drop a meazly 20 bucks and buy her a few flowers, a card, and some candy. When she got home, I'd meet her at the door with the booty in hand and tell her I'm glad she is home and hand her the loot, while telling her how awesome she is for letting me do my thing. I'd do this not for forgiveness or any other reason than it is the truth. A good woman, or better than a good woman, would thank you with a kiss and say shes glad to be home. That is why my Sweety is my Sweety.

The only thing that takes priority over the wife is my dog, Pugsters. I would go to lunch.

Enjoy lunch with your wife. If you blew her off, you'd be thinking about that maybe you shouldn't have all the time at the range.

Plus, you can casually mention that you turned around just for her - you will definitely earn points for good behavior.

Text her and tell her your phone is broken and you didn't get the message.............
;)

I hope you went to lunch with your wife for your own sake but if you went shooting I don't think that was wrong either. Obviously you have been neglected of some much needed quality time at the range.

I came home from work early the other day and went shooting.

I would do option .......

E) pick her up a work, take her to a hotel, stop by McD's while droping her off at work.

As fun a throwing lead down range is talking with the wife always wins. Not as it's more fun (though sometimes it is), because any time she is in the mood to talk it's ALWAYS a great time to listen.

Turn the lunch tables on her, call to insure you have a room available.......

Just my 2 cents. YMMV wildly in each direction.

I figger if you been lollygaggin' around all morning and all you got to do is go to the range, and your wife is workin'. You best git yourself over there and take care of that gal's wants and needs right quick.

Although I voted *a* - I would actually tell her that I'm at the range - Meet me here and we can have lunch when we're done shooting.

Hey - She needs practice too :)

I voted take her to lunch. You never know when you're going to need those brownie points.

That's why I don't carry a cell phone. I would have gone to the range had a great day, and the wife would not have interrupted with trivial stuff like food.

Newlywed, I assume. After you've been married awhile, "lunch" means lunch. :(

Think of how you would feel or what you'd wish you could do if your wife had suddenly been taken from you. Many know how that feels.

Anyone who has lost a loved one and would give just about anything for a few more minutes with them could tell you.
