I have a K22 Model 17-2. The serial number is K633074. It has an adjustable rear sight, a pinned barrel, recessed chambers, and only two screws. I have (hopefully) attached 3 pics. Thanks for any info.

K633074 was probably assembled in 1965. I do show one not much higher than it that shipped in July, 1966, but that one is probably a late shipper.

Your revolver actually has a 3 screw frame. The rear sideplate screw is hiding under the right stock panel.

Good find. The Model 17 K-22 Masterpiece is an excellent revolver.

Wow...that was fast! Thanks so much Jack. I was pretty sure there had to be another screw, but I didn't think to look under the grip. I actually don't remember where I got it, but it was probably off an old forum maybe ten years ago or so. I really enjoy shooting it and, as anyone who has one knows - the pistol is probably more accurate than they are. :p

I now have a nine year old grandson who is just CRAZY in love with it! He must have put three hundred rounds down range yesterday and only quit because I finally told him it was time to go. He has a choice of a Winchester rifle and an M&P 15...but this is by FAR his favorite. Some day he'll own it.

I have a question about ammo in this K22. I was shipped four hundred rounds of CCI .22 short by mistake. They refunded my money and told me to keep it. Is there any harm done putting it through this revolver? I'm guessing it may foul the cylinders a little, but they can be cleaned, right?

CCI .22 short . . .

That is correct. Just run a bronze brush with Hoppe's #9 through the cylinder charge holes, followed by a patch with the same solvent and then a dry patch after you finish a range session using the .22 Short ammo. You'll be fine.

They refunded my money and told me to keep it.
Nice of Speer (or the dealer) to let you keep them. :)

I just purchased a K22 this weekend serial number is K285xxx, does anyone know what year this is from?

Thanks

I have two K-38s with nearby serial numbers:
K278720 shipped in November, 1956
K285963 shipped in January, 1957

It is very likely that your K-22 Masterpiece was assembled in 1956, and shipped either that year or the next.
