What's for dinner?

Mrs. RSBH44 made a beautiful deep dish French Quiche. Bacon ,ham, spinach, broccoli and Gruyere cheese. My contribution was a small pumpernickel Boule that I had fermenting since yesterday, about ( 16hrs.)

Fried chicken, mashed taters and milk gravy.

You spoon gravy over your fried chicken? You must be eating it with a knife & fork. That must be an English thing.

I love mashed taters & milk gravy, but good, southern-fried chicken should be crispy and traditionally you pick it up and eat it with your hands - not with utensils.

If you smother it in gravy it won't stay crispy and picking it up with your hands would get really messy.

This has nothing to do with my point of origin but everything to do with pleasing my palate.

There are no rules to eating chicken.

Of course there are no "rules" - only traditions.

To a southerner, smothering good crispy southern-fried chicken in gravy almost borders on sacrilege. ;)

But to each his own...

Giant grilled burgers and seasoned potato wedges.
