What's Highest Serial Number We have On Model 629 Pinned and Recessed Revolvers by barrel Length

N8755XX, 5-inch, shipped October 29, 1981. It must be near the end of the P&R revolvers, since jcelect's 629 is a transition gun with a slightly lower serial number.

Bill,

Would you please share "the rest of the story" on the 5".

BTW, my 6" is 837706.

Thanks, and good shooting.

No real story on the 629 that I can tell. I do know it was part of an extensive collection of 629s (one had a 7-inch barrel) that was displayed at the S&WCA meeting in Charleston, SC in 1993. The collection was broken up several years later and I purchased the 5-inch 629. I don't know what happened to the rest of the collection.

Thanks Bill,

I thought that maybe it was one of those "special orders" that took many letters and years to happen.

Good shooting.

8 3/8, Ser # is 850xxx.

Someone had it D&Ted so I have the option mounting a scope, which I have done. Tack Driver!

Shucks. My 4" P&R is an ordinary 850435. Regardless, I love it. bought it years ago at Tulsa.

Its only claim to fame is that it has W. Germany proof marks all over it - barrel, frame, cylinder. Was proofed at the Ulm, Germany proof house.

Lord knows how it got back to the U.S. of A..
