I haven't heard that in years...

Matt Monro's version of "Softly, As I leave you" really gets to me. It was played at my mother's services, and there wasn't a dry eye to be seen. While in the reception line after the services, I had many comments about the song and how it was a perfect choice. Over 400 attended.

A long, long time ago it was in my piano repertoire. It is pretty, but I never thought of it for a funeral. It is really apropos.

'Honey' was a very sad song..

I cannot hear it but I break out laughing remembering the Smothers Brothers version. 14 yrs old in 68.

..but I guess I'll have to look up the Smother Bros. version.

It reminds me of a delightful young lady I worked with. Married for a short time and found a black spot on her leg. She did well, considering and even came for a visit. She was very well liked. Some months later we got the word.

there is another whose title I never learned and I never learned who sang it. It was a song that came with a package of songs for a fast food restaurant to play over and over. It was sung by some female-who had all female backups. It always gripped my heart hard-and reminded me of those special to me who I lost or who I greatly missed. I wish I could remember enough of it to post here.
