What’s the Saddest Song You Ever Heard?

Never Say Goodbye-is one that just popped into my head. I first heard that one in 86 or so after Patty moved back to Michigan. I dont know who sings it? but boy, it sure reminded me of her every time I heard it and also made my eyes rain. Sometimes it still does and I have to turn the station when it plays.

"Cats in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin. Gets me every time.
Saw him at Circle Star Theater and Concord pavilion. Great show. Supposedly written in part by wife who never saw him while on the road. Had a thing for cellists, I understand. Oops...

Here's a sad but inspiring true-story song by the late Chuck Pyle, Here Comes the Water:

Carlene Carter is June Carter's daughter, and Johnny Cash was her step father. After losing her mother, her step-father, and her sister all in a short time, this song must be gut-wrenching to sing.
