A old hunting buddy had a license plate sureshot as he alway's shot deer in the head. One christmas his wife gave me a plate with sureshot II so when I started cowboy action shooting I turned it to sureshotbob. I've used it for a lot of years now on several forums.I sure do miss my buddy as he passed away a few years ago at 97 years old and still hunted and farmed till he was 95.

Mine started out as a SASS nickname several years ago. It refers to the closest town to my place here in the country, and, naturally, to my size.

I don't do the "cowboy thing" anymore, but the name stuck.

Alexander F. Thuer. Was the inventor of the Thuer conversion and the 3e model Colt deringer.

I do love Smith and Wesson but I sure like to own an original Thuer Conversion. I can t afford it. They are a litle expensive. Beside that the market is riddled with fakes.

I do own only the 3e Colt deringer.

Do I have to duck and take cover now?

Well, a life goal was a Masters in Zoology. Economics (read marriage, kid) forced me to drop out of college and the military got me. Marriage ended about the time the military did.

Wandered pretty aimlessly through the 70s. Got into a real estate related field and worked my way up to middle management. Early 90s, 90% of the industry was laid off. I held on until 94, then I got the ax. Wife and I were both inspired that I should return to school (we were at different places but at the same time). My sister-in-law heard about an adult re-entry program with a degree in Marine Science. I enrolled and earned my BS in Marine Biology at 46, cum laude!. A professor convinced me to enroll in grad school. I took a chance and earned my MS in Biology (emphasis in animal behavior/ecology) with a thesis on the adaptive behavior of urban bears and a gpa of 3.93 at age 48. Went to work with the feds 12 years ago.

So, I've got what is a rewarding career as a second career. My degree means a lot to me==I earned it and paid for it myself (well, with loans).

ps. Wife says a Porsche would have been a lot cheaper for a mid-life crisis.

I'm from Wash. DC, but have lived in over 20 places and many states from the northeast to the deep south to TX, AZ and CA. In the last six years I've moved coast to coast four times. I've never lived longer than 4 years in any one place due to my career.

Despite the stupid gun laws and politicians, and lawyers, and K St lobby firms etc. etc. Washington DC is a world class city to live in with amazing amenities. Seven days a week, 365 days a year, anyone can see a free world class event in the arts. In the mood for jazz? DC is awesome for jazz and I lived in heart of the jazz district where Duke Ellington lived. Don't get me started on the food!! Every country's food is represented. Be sure to stop by Ben's Chili Bowl in my old neighborhood; everyone from street bums to millionaires go in for a half-smoke.

People who have never gotten to know DC, including those from MD and VA, are really missing out on a fantastic place to live and play.

So, my moniker helps me stay grounded as I move around the country, because I am a DC transplant.

Badge number from the local PD. Served as a Reserve Officer for 32 years.

I am a retired forest ranger and the first three letters of my first name are pat.

If the shoe fits...

I like to hunt and the majority of my hunting is done with handguns... and, since I try to use appropriate verbiage and I always eat the animals I hunt, "Harvester" seemed apropos!

Thirty-four years in law enforcement...local to three federal agencies, ending near the top before retirement. Got to see the world. Great career, but the best part was pushing a steering wheel around as a uniformed street guy. Every day was different.

In addition to it being my first an last initials, its also what my fiancee's father calls me from time to time..."Jay-Dubya". I've been called lots of things and find this to be the most agreeable! :D

My Granddad had a 30's vintage Diamond T Reo when I was a kid - spent many hours "driving" (at least pretending to) and pulling on the air horn lanyard. I still have the horn.
