What's this Model 1 Worth

He told me he personally put the rounds pictured in the cylinder and they fit perfect.

Can you tell what it is now and the value and what would be a good price to pay for it?

Thanks all

Well as others have said, its certainly not a model 1. It has the dimensions of a model 2. Apparently, someone got confused regarding the caliber of this gun, and so based on the caliber (which would have actually been 22 short black powder) they ID'd as a model 1. It is however a re-sleeved model 2 based on all of the info you have gave us.

22 WRF was never chambered in a S&W revolver, AFAIK. Of course later, S&W chambered several different revolvers in 22 WMR, which was based on the 22 WRF.

Nalapombu, See my post on your first thread. Info. is still the same. It's Model 2 Army that someone has sleeved the barrel & cylinder to .22 WRF caliber. It has no collector value, but is novelty. .22WRF ammo. is seldom seen now, so it's got limited use as a shooter, unless it will chamber .22RF long or short ammo. Depending on how the lining in the barrel & cylinder has been installed, it might be possible to restore the gun to .32RF and buy a .32 RF extractor rod for the gun. Ed.

I merged the 2 threads for you. Pay attention to what opoefc is telling you here. He is has forgot more about S&W guns than most on this forum will ever know. He was alive in those days!!!!:D;)

Thank you everyone for your help. I appreciate it. Also thanks for merging the 2 threads as I was creating the 2nd from my Iphone where the pics are and didn't know I could add onto the previous posts with the new pics he had sent me.

I absolutely will pay good attention to opoefc, I'm gonna tell my buddy his info tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Howdy

CCI still makes 22 WMR ammo. It is labeled as their Maxi-Mags. This is powerful stuff, I was just shooting some out of a Single Six yesterday. I most definitely would not shoot any in a revolver made in 1864, even if it had been sleeved to accept it. I am sure it would pound the thing to death.

The ammo in the post is the older 22 WRF not the WMR or 22 mag. They still make the WRF although I am not sure how often it is made. I believe one other ammo manufacturer also makes the 22 WRF. :)

Hi All, Regarding ammo for an old .22, probably ok to use BB caps (basically just the primer, casing and ball/conical bullet.

CCI and Winchester both produce occasional runs of .22 WRF ammo. The CCI was in circulation immediately pre-panic and uses a copper plated HP. The Winchester had a plain lead bullet, the last I saw.
