Winchester's description on their website reads "The choice for 12 gauge AA duplicate handloads and standard velocity handgun loads. Ideal for use in 45 Auto match applications. Consistent, clean, low flash and smoke are benefits to the shooter". However, if you go to their loading tables only one or two loads is shown for 45 acp. There are no other loads for any other calibers shown. Does anybody use this powder in handgun loads? I want to load target loads for 32 H&R and maybe 38 Spec. It meters well and seems to be readily available locally. Thanks for any help you can give with this.

Have you checked Hodgdon's web site? They have loads in .45 ACP for six bullet weights and both lead and jacket for a total of eight. What you need should be in there someplace.

There are three loads in .38 Special, but none in .32 H&R.

I've burned up about 20 pounds of WST in the last 7-8 years, it is my go-to powder for midrange loads in the 38 Special and 45 ACP, extremely clean-burning and about as cheap as it can be. I just snagged another keg of it, which is enough for about 14,000 loads in 38 Special. Should last a year or two. :)

Hodgdon now markets the Winchester line of powders so the data on
the website may not be original Winchester data. The last manual I
have that was actually published by Winchester listed several loads
for 38 spl.

I was using W231 in my 45acp and 9mm plink'n loads and running low when I caught a deal on a 8lb keg of WST. I like it! Burns clean, doesn't seem to care if the bullet is hard cast or plated, every bit as accurate as W231. About the only difference I noticed was my semi-auto's are a lot cleaner when I get home. You have to go back to the Lyman #14 (I think, can't remember the #) to find load data for WST and 9mm. Winchester says they no longer recommend it for 9mm but a bunch of reloaders are using it without any problems.

I'm another one that switched from 231 to WST in my .45 ACP for shooting IDPA. Clean and accurate behind a RMR plated 230 grain bullet. Good luck!

WST has become very popular with competition handgun shooters too. A lot of Bullseye guys really seem to like it, and it's about as popular in some circles as Bullseye is. Now, if there were just some available, I'm down to 1 lb, but do have plenty of other options.

Oh! Post 686!

Sometimes I think I must be blind or something. I checked their website a couple of times and somehow missed that info. Thanks all for your help with this. I think I should be able to figure out a load or two for 32 H&R after looking at the 38 Spec loads. I'm not looking to hot rod anything, just mild target loads. WST is the only powder for some reason that my lgs always seems to have in stock. Will have to learn to use it.

I'm glad the last time I saw WST for sale I bought a few lbs. It is my 45 load for major power factor. I may have to use some for my trap loads If I can't find any E3 in the next few months.

I don't understand why a company cuts its throat by just putting the minimum amount of data out for this powder?

If I was the owner of this company I would be handing out "Pink Slip" !!
