What’s with “The Curse Of Oak Island”?

People have been hacking away at that poor hole for a hundred years.

A hundred years? More like since the late 18th century. I remember reading an article in Readers Digest about it when I was a kid. They had a great diagram of how they though it was all set up with traps and pitfalls to keep people from the treasure. Supposedly there has been a very long line of people queuing up to dump their life's fortunes down that hole and no one has ever gotten anything out of it. I lost interest in the show when I realized even with modern technology like ground penetrating radar they weren't finding anything. Or maybe they didn't really want to, they would rather perpetuate the myth and milk $'s and ratings out of it.

Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.

Have you forgotten Jeraldo Rivera and Al Capone's vault??????

This is the same thing but with better technology and spread out over several shows/ seasons

This is the show that came to mind as I read this thread. I remember watching Jeraldo dig and poke around. All they proved was the show was a fake from the beginning.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

I've watched little of it. Have they found anything yet? I prefer to Watch American Pickers looking for and buying junk.

That show is as fake as the storage unit auction one where they found an original LeMat revolver someone conveniently "forgot" they put in storage and stopped paying their storage bill. I rank all of those shows right alongside that kardashian one and that stupid housewives of wherever. Teenage daughters watch the first one and the wife watches the second one, so I have to put up with it from time to time. What gets me is those botoxed plastic women actually think they are attractive🤮

Even if it is and the stuff is planted, I still like seeing neat old stuff.

I can't believe that show is still on, I'd have thought they'd have reached China by now. My Dad and I used to make fun of that show when neither of us wanted to get out of our chair to find the remote. We had a lot of fun with it. I'm stunned no one has found the Viking space alien Knight Templar Kiwanis pirate treasure yet. Maybe the Druid Rotarians moved it and didn't tell anyone.

This thread reminds me how much I miss my Dad. He would have loved this thread.

Just another unreal realty show. In my view those type shows and golf
are about the same, rather watch weeds grow.

I was told that an old guy down my way once found a Spanish Gold Coin while plowing a mule.
He plowed for 50 years or so, but never found anymore.
Conclusion: Plowing with a Mule is not a recommended technique for discovering treasure.
I'm not sure that drilling expensive holes on Oak Island is any better.

I started watching, got bored and quit. If nothing else is on I might check in, but it's just another hokey TV show. If they discover that the island got visited by little green men (who stole the treasure) I wouldn't be surprised.

Before I retired, some guys got fascinated by Swamp People. First season you saw guys with old, rusty, cheap guns in old, beat up leaky boats trying to catch alligators. Now, they've all got new pickups, new boats and fancy guns.

Frankly I'm sick of TV being filled up with idiots chasing storms, LGM, ghosts, monsters, legends, dead cities, the latest, greatest, biggest whatever; etc.

I have renamed it "The Dirt of Oak Island". Yes, the original premise is an intriguing mystery, but digging holes in blind hope all over the island gets a little dull. If you remember the "Secrets of Al Capone's Vault" show by Heraldo Rivera, this is the same only it goes on and on.

A thread that reminds you of your Dad in a good way is always good. I still miss mine and he died 65 years ago.

Have a blessed day,

They will put anything on TV as long as somebody will buy time for commercials.
