Whats you favorite shooter S&W & Why

Id have to say a Model 27 and a 1947 38/44 Heavy Duty, both shoot perfect. I never had the 27s dates verified I think it has the 27 on the crane. Its got to be from 1950 or 1960 we always had it, sorry no pics. The pics here are so good.

My M49, since it's my CCW, followed of course by my M34.

The extra grips are what gives the .22 its versatility; with the Pachy grips, it feels like a K-frame!

My old 4 screw, 6in. M28...thing shoots like a rifle, even with MY eyes.

Model 625 .45 ACP Mountain Gun with Morado combat grips. Fairly inexpensive to shoot in ACP, accurate, easy to clean. Loves FMJ 200 gr CCI.

I love accurate revolvers. This is more important to me than looks. My favorite revolver to shoot is a model 28-2 that was converted somewhere back in time by an unknown to 44 special. Condition wise, it is the lowest percentage S&W that I own. It will be the last to go. It started life in the hands of a Georgia State Trooper before being reincarnated as a 44.

Second favorite is my 27-2, sporting a 5 inch barrel. The best balanced big-bore gun S&W ever made. I know this is so because Skeeter said so. Exactly the reason I bought the first one. Found out it was true and is the reason I have one now. It will be around until the end, also.

An honorable mention, if I may. I am convinced that the 1911 platform is, if reliable, the finest fighting handgun period. Hope I never have to find out, but if I do my Les Baer PII will hopefully be in my hand. If you're one of those folks who thinks the 45ACP auto is unreliable, rattletrap, stovepiping and hard to shoot well then you're in for a pleasant suprise if you ever get your mitts on one of these. Definitely worth a re-visit.

That's easy.

For a long time I would have answered this "K38 Masterpiece"

But then I was blessed with a "38/44 Outdoorsman". So my favorite would be my Outdoorsman...
no the K38, no the Outdoorsman.... no... (arrgh) :o

That's a no-brainer, the model 57. I can't seem to shoot that revolver poorly, it shoots great on my worst day with any ammo I feed it. That revolver gives my ego a boost everytime that hammer drops on a primer.

My favorite would be the blue steel 45 ACP Mountain Gun I had built from a 25-2 and a 1950 tapered barrel. I've posted pictures of it any number of times.

Second would be the almost 3.5" 624 round butt someone made from a 4" of the same model. Don't know why they did and question if I would have the nerve to cut just 1/2" off a 4" gun then round butt it but I'm glad they did 'cause I love the dern thing. Posted it's picture enough times you guys are probably tired of seeing it too. (LOL)

Mine is a 686-1, no Mod, that I bought NIB back in '85 or so. I've fired well in excess of 5K rounds thru this gun, it is like an extension of my right hand. I've won many bets, and a few beers, on the fact I can hit a 10" plate at 100 yards with this gun more often than not. Funny how some folks think a handgun isn't good for anything over 25 yards or so.
This gun, with factory target stocks, just settles in perfectly and if I'm doing my part has never failed to do it's.
I think I paid $240 or so for it and would never think of letting it go.

Can't say I have one favorite but this recent purchase of a high grade 3T k-32 is one of them. Trigger smooth as silk, accurate and mild recoil, whats not to like:

Model 66-1. Worked on by Bob Chow a famous (and departed) gunsmith mostly known for his work on 1911s and High Standards.

S&W School item..

Put to a Model 65 4" together in Armorer School in Sunnyvale, CA in 1986, took it to Police Academy and several postal matches..love it knowing I did it and it remains the one that will not get away no matter what..unless the son ask for it, which he might and is why he does not know about it..yet..all5x

If I am just shooting and the targets are paper or tin cans, I can't think of anything much better than a K38 and a supply of wadcutters.

Do agree with USBP SW about 57s being easy guns to shoot well, but they don't have the relaxation value for me that .38 wadcutters do.

While I truly love carrying my Model 27-2 I really enjoy shooting my Outdoorsman. With me only having one good arm to shoot with these days, I can only imagine what it would be like if they both worked.
