Hi
Saw this thread on the Glock forum, thought it was pretty interesting to see what other members carry for EDC and where they reside. Maybe weather has a factor on what your carry or simply the demographics of where you reside (ie: hi crime). iam sure we will see people who carry different weapons . also how you caarry (holster position etc etc)
I will start
As I type this i am carrying a M&P 40c in a TT gunleather Hi ride pancake right side. Its loaded with Win 165 Gr SXT I almost carry a spare mag or two.
thanks

Yes the weather does change my carry routine. In the winter with more clothes and easier concealment, I move to the 3 inch model 65. The rest of the year is the 642.

Good Call. Central NH? I once resided in Madison NH did Alot of deer hunting up that way. The North Country is real nice

Climate/Weather does matter

Winter weather in Vermont allows greater latitute for what you carry when you pile on the clothing. There are those who know more about cardiovascular bloodflow stuff who can chime in, but I have heard that colder weather means constricted blood flow. If that is the case, bigger bullets, more barrel length for increased velocity etc may be a consideration. I think the biggest factor for me, is that when the temp drops considerably, my hands and fingers get "stupid", and slower, as fine motor skills diminish due to cold. Fingers and hands also get dry. So, those nice smooth wood grips or laminate grips that are so fast to draw in summer become slippery. Those pachmyer rubber grips that felt slow in summer as clothing and hands get caught on them now feel a heck of a lot better. The j frame which was great in summer, now feels really small when fingers are stiff. All that being said, my summer guns are a 2 inch K frame model 10 with smooth wood ahrends boot grips or checkered service grips with a tgrip adapter, backed up by an airweight with the factory rubber boots (the older uncle mikes type) or PGS hideout grips, which are smooth hard polymer. In winter, I avoid the hard polymer and smooth wood. The uncle mikes boot grips are pretty good if I need the J, but I generally stick with the checkered wood K and a 4 inch K with either checkered wood or pachmyers. If I could only have one set of guns/grips, it would be checkered wood and tgrips. They work well pretty much all year round. Hope this helps.

S.E Tennessee
Glock .40 w/ 180gr JHP
Fobus belt holster at 3 o'clock-considering a leather pancake holster that fits closer to the body.
Extra magazine at 9 o'clock.

Check Out TT Gunleather pancake hi ride I often concealed my G23 under a tshirt with NO printing A great holster at a reasonable price

I'm in Maine but carry the same guns regardless of the season-

On duty: Springfield Loaded

Off duty: Clark's Custom Meltdown Colt Compact

Duty BUG/occasional off duty: Custom 9mm S&W 360J

I always carry the bigger guns strong side, OWB. If I'm carrying the snubbie it's either in a pocket or an ankle holster.
I have other guns I'll carry occasionally but these three are primary.

carry location

Forgot to mention, crossdraw or shoulder rig for winter here in VT with heavy clothing making a strong side draw difficult. Usually pocket carry for the snubs.

WC145 awesome choice On duty choice is a good obe. on duty?? i assume a local PD up there, As I am pretty sure MSP carry some type of 357 Sig correct. For sometime i carried the kimber Pro CarryII, Then Capacity took 1st place in my EDC. But i still like my Kimber.
thanks

Reside in Vermont (no permits needed for concealed carry :cool:)

Cooler weather carry: S&W 66-5 snub.
IWB=Tucker Gunleather Texas Heritage
OWB=Galco speed scabbard

Warmer weather/social functions: S&W 340 M&P no/lock
IWB=Remora holster...with many more holsters to follow...:rolleyes:

Speed strips or speed loaders are always in my front off-side pocket.
Beltman Belt rounds out the package!

A full size S&W 1911 year round, all day, every day.

Louisiana has some hot weather and it is still easy to carry concealed.

Yeah, I'm local PD, carry what I want. The local S.O. carries Kimbers, they change from Glock 21s 2 1/2 years ago. The Warden service carries 357Sigs, MSP just switched, or are in the process of switching, from HK USP .45s to the newer HK45.

Spring and summer it's pocket carry

colder weather gets a K frame on the belt.

12 Months, 4 Seasons....

I used to switch my guns and gear out with the seasons, but of late I've settled on this for year 'round carry.

Built by a fellow forumite and my friend "ShortRanger", It's something of a "Hybrid" being a S&W 908 lower with the longer 910 slide and barrel. Hogue stocks, Trigicon sights round out the package.

Ok Roger that, Local PD here also inside Boston. Sig DAK current issue going to S&W M&P 45. I like the M&P line functional accurate and comfortable to shoot. I am a big fan of officers caRRYING WHAT THEY WANT, I think if Officer "A" shoots a Glock Better than a Sig the they should be issued a Glock. I agree with the same ammo for purchasing and accountability issues.
Thanks

I'm located in the Central Texas area. My EDC is always some type of J frame .38 Special (642 or 60) in a (pants) pocket holster), but sometimes a 432 in .32 H&R Magnum. If I'm traveling, I'll usually augment it with something with a longer barreled K-frame in a OWB holster.

Best regards,

Dave

I used to carry a S&W 908, recently switched to a Ruger LCR. It's lighter, easier to conceal and highly corrosion resistant. I made my own kydex holsters for it and they work well. They may look backwards to you because I'm a southpaw, the LCR is residing in my IWB in this photo.

In cooler weather it's always one of the various 45 autos, but I just recently added this to the accumulation........FNP-45, which holds 15 rounds of 230-grain Gold Dot ammo and pretty well obviates the need to carry spare magazines. ;)

In summer it's this one, either in a front pants pocket or IWB at 4:00.

I carry my Smith and Wesson SD with 2 extra mags along with my 437 as a bug year around. I live in MI in a low crime area but work in a very high crime area.
