What's your favorite .45ACP powder?

For FMJ/plated, my favorite is VV N340! Titegroup works well, W231/HP38, WST for lead, of course Bullseye.

There are SO many options! Many of the shotgun powders work wonders: Clays (most of the family), Red Dot, American Select...

If I could only have 1? VV N340 would be it (provided I could actually find some and afford it!).

Bullseye

Gotta ride with post 48,50,52&53.....I have been shooting the 45acp since the early 70's, bullseye, IPSC, pin shoots and a lot of training with the 1911 platfrom.....have shot over 200k of 45 acp during the past 40 years and my first choice is the hardball load with bullseye....use a reduced load with 200 SWC's in my match guns and they simply shoot ragged one hole groups from a rest at 25 yds.....has served me well.

I've used a lot of 'em and had very satisfactory results from almost every one. Lately I've "discovered" that 3.9-gr of Hodgdon Clays and a 230-gr cast LRN to be THE softest shooting 815-fps load I've ever found, and it's plenty accurate as well and boy is it ever clean. It almost feels like I'm shooting a .22LR conversion unit. I'm running an 18.5# recoil spring in my 5" 1911 and it cycles beautifully.

Used W231/HP-38 for a couple of years. I recently bought WST and really like it for 45acp and 9mm. Meters nice out of my uniflow or 55 measure and it's cleaner than W231. I'd like to find WSF. Recommended for both calibers for added "umph".
