What's your opinion....686P 3" problems
I just bought a 686 Plus 3", I'm kinda disappointed. I like the way it shoots but the fit and finish disappoint me.
Where the barrel fits the frame - the frame rounds to the flat side of the top strap, there is a ridge , maybe a casting
seem that was not finished. The area just above the trigger opening on the left side is sloppy, not a crisp edge.
The side plate where it fits into the frame is rough and the frame edge is sharp.
When I shot it yesterday, a spent shell slid back and jammed in the area where the cyliner latch pin slides in.
That could be disastrous in a defense situation! Last but not least, It seems to have a wide cylinder gap. .011
I think it needs to go back or go away! I tried to get some pictures of what I'm explaining but they are no good.

Seems like it would be in their best interest.......

Did you buy this new?? It seems they should give you a new (well made) gun. It's going to take a lot of work to straighten all of what you describe out.

If you mean where the barrel meets the frame there is almost a silver ring where the barrel is partially recessed into the frame than my j-frame had that problem fresh from the factory. I sent it back and they fixed it along with the multitudes of other problems. They were very quick.

I got a call from S&W today and they said they would replace
my 3" 686P. I'm abit nervous to see what they send. I'm hopeful It will be nice!

Try it out with Smith and see if they make it right for you. They will send you a pre-paid label so you do not have to worry about shipping.
