Hello! I have a tendency since my accident, to over prepare. For the wheelgunners here, whether you carry a 5 shot or 6 shot concealed, how many speedloaders/speed strips do you carry in the event that you have to defend yourself?

I use speed strips. In the home I carry one. Leave the home I carry 2. Most time's I leave the home I also carry a second gun. A NAA 22 mag or a 40 Shield.

I love my revolvers and always carry two speed strips when I carry them.

Like jrs70 I usually carry a second gun, regardless of the type in my main holster.

I have been known to carry a speed strip or two, but I honestly can't imagine any realistic and probable scenario where there would be time and an immediate need to reload via a speed strip, but would not be ample time and opportunity to flee the scene. I'm of the opinion that nearly all(99.5%) armed civilian public self-defense situations are resolved(one way or the other) by what's in the gun based on the stats I've seen of over 600 cases of civilians using firearms in self-defense.

Ever since Garland i carry more than i used to carry. I carry two revolvers and six speed loaders plus a small container of an extra 20 rounds, so that is 30 + 20 + 10 in the two revolvers. Sixty rounds. Soon i will be making a trip through Waco, and into
Killene Texas near Ft. Hood, and I am considering an extra
box. I know the statistics that the average number one ever
needs is only about 4 rounds. I figure that with all the new
threats the federal government is creating i have to either carry
some extra rounds or switch from a wheel gun. There was a time when we did not have
threats from gang bangers, and isis and criminal illegals and
none violent convicts being released. I can't prevent or deter
the government from such policies, but i can carry extra ammo
or more weapons. I just am not willing to switch to semi automatics yet.

I normally carried two speed loaders. Now if I carry, I carry a Glock 19 with 16 rounds and two spare mags with 17 or 19 rounds each so at minimum I carry 50 rounds of 9mmP.

The last time I strapped on my M28 it just didn't make sense with a lighter pistol and significantly more ammo. Just my 2c.

I normally carry two speed loaders for my double-action revolvers. If I am carrying a single-action, there are 25 rounds on my gun-belt.

One speed loader and one speed strip....... 18 rounds

At the cabin/ woods bumming add a 12 round ammo wallet.....and maybe a Ruger 77/357 and 2 5 round mags on the RZR

Sorry about your accident. What type of accident did you have that relates to carrying extra ammo?

When I carry my 442 winter carry I have 1 speed loader in my coat pocket

In the summer when I don't wear a jacket it's 1 speed strip.

Hello, fortunately, my accident had nothing to do with carrying, but one has influenced the other.

Back in '07, a Cadillac crossed the center line and hit my Harley head on. Had my 24th surgery from that accident this past September. As a result of the accident, I am disabled with three damaged limbs. As could be expected with today's state of affairs, I feel like a willing victim.

For when I travel where my permit is honored, I want to be able to protect my children and myself should the need arise.

Around here, I carry a Colt DS, with one speed strip.

When I go to Portland or Seattle, it's my Model 39, with one extra magazine.

If I'm carrying my 640 Pro I carry one speed strip. If I'm carrying my Shield 9 it's the extra 7 round magazine.

2 or 3 reloads, based on an experience with a pack of feral dogs.
I shoot revolver IDPA and can go through 12 shots in a little over 10 seconds in a target rich environment. Scary how feral dogs don't always run at gunfire and press in until actually hit hard. With one reload, I was left with an empty gun when they finally ran.

I carry 1 or none speed strips. I avoid places where I might be questioning if I need to carry more ammo than just 5 in my wheel and 1 speed strip. Unfortunately, every now and then I might have to go to a less than desirable place. In that event I purposely carry either my Glock 30S (I use the G21 mag with sleeve which gives me 13+1 of .45acp) or I'll carry my Sig P320 Carry which gives me 17+1 of 9mm.
