Wheelgunners, when you are out and about how many reloads do you carry?

I have been known to carry a speed strip or two, but I honestly can't imagine any realistic and probable scenario where there would be time and an immediate need to reload via a speed strip, but would not be ample time and opportunity to flee the scene. I'm of the opinion that nearly all(99.5%) armed civilian public self-defense situations are resolved(one way or the other) by what's in the gun based on the stats I've seen of over 600 cases of civilians using firearms in self-defense.

I feel the same way you do regarding the shooting portion. I carry a speed strip because I don't want to have an empty gun after the shooting is over. Lots can happen between the last round and the police arriving.

Normally carry a jframe for bug at work. One speed strip with it.When I carry one of my 45acp revolvers at least two full moon clips and 3-6 quarter moon clips.I would hate to run out of ammo if there was something that really needed shooting around.

I carry two speed loaders but I have doubts that I would be able to reload during a gun fight. I practice a lot but not with someone shooting at me. I carry two speed loaders because I will sure as heck try to reload.

Ever since Garland i carry more than i used to carry. I carry two revolvers and six speed loaders plus a small container of an extra 20 rounds, so that is 30 + 20 + 10 in the two revolvers. Sixty rounds. Soon i will be making a trip through Waco, and into
Killene Texas near Ft. Hood, and I am considering an extra
box. I know the statistics that the average number one ever
needs is only about 4 rounds. I figure that with all the new
threats the federal government is creating i have to either carry
some extra rounds or switch from a wheel gun. There was a time when we did not have
threats from gang bangers, and isis and criminal illegals and
none violent convicts being released. I can't prevent or deter
the government from such policies, but i can carry extra ammo
or more weapons. I just am not willing to switch to semi automatics yet.

The threats have always existed, it's just replaced with different groups every few years. To think otherwise is quite ignorant.

Hello, fortunately, my accident had nothing to do with carrying, but one has influenced the other.

Back in '07, a Cadillac crossed the center line and hit my Harley head on. Had my 24th surgery from that accident this past September. As a result of the accident, I am disabled with three damaged limbs. As could be expected with today's state of affairs, I feel like a willing victim.

For when I travel where my permit is honored, I want to be able to protect my children and myself should the need arise.

So sorry to hear that. I've been riding for 40+ years. But for the grace of God go I.

Actually, you did have to worry about them, but we all were blissfully ignorant of the threats. You can thank the 24-hour news cycle.

Sometimes a strip for the Chief. Barney only carried one in his shirt pocket, and he lived to a ripe old age.

One extra mag for my M&P .380 and an extra speed strip for my 442.

Well, if I'm carrying my 5904, none. If I'm carrying a revolver, I do on occasion, I have a few extra rounds in my pants pocket.

Jframe/LCR, 1 Comp1 loader if I can, 1 speedstrip if I can't carry the Comp1. If carrying an auto, usually just one extra magazine.

Threats have always been around , as another person has stated above , we as a people , a nation , are now just (last 25/30yrs) waking to the idea that they are in our own back yard.

When I carry a gun on my belt, it is a Glock 23 with one or sometimes two extra mags. When pocket carry is mandated due to dress, a 442 with two speed strips goes into the same pocket as the revolver. My belt size sixguns do strictly HD duty for the bride and are rarely carried anymore. As another poster stated earlier, it is hard to justify the extra weight of a full size revolver for six shots when you can have fourteen or more on board for less weight on the belt.

I always carry Two Snubs. sometimes Five Shooters and sometimes a Seven Shooter and a Five. At least one reload for each. It depends were I am going and for how long. A Weekend get away, four or six speed loaders, couple of speed strips. Sometimes a third gun.

Always carry two spare reloads for every gun I carry, either two sped strips/speed loaders or two spare magazines.
