When did you last buy a Brand New S&W ?

I bought this 10-11 from the guy everybody around here loves to hate (Khalid) as a Christmas gift to me in 2006. Joe

Even I haven't done that!!!:D ( New that is ;) )

Late 70's or early 80's as I recall.
Bought a 2" nickel Mod 10 at a gunshop, brand new in the box. A buddy told me about it, and I RUSHED over to buy it at something like $30 over retail!!!

Oh yeah- I forgot to tell ya- it did NOT have a rear sight groove......;)

I've never bought a new S&W. Unless you count a Walther P-22. I bought one of those about 2005 or so.

Even if you take locks, P&R, MIM, etc. out of the equation, I can't see paying twice (suggested retail) as much for something just because it's "new".

Bought this one (an M22-4) last October after a winning night of poker (or two):

I've only shot it a couple of times since then and I find that I'm not a fan of small grips on a large revolver. But it looks way too cool to change them, so they get to stay. -S2

The last and only new S&W I bought was in 1990(I think), it was a 629 Classic Hunter 3 inch.It still resides in my safe today.Other than that one all of my S&W guns were pre-owned ,as they say in the auto sales trade .

1985, a 29-2 at an estate sale (of a gun store) for $320.00 or so. I still have it and I don't think I ever shot it. Last one before that was my first one, a 28-2 in 1967 because I could not afford (or the girl I was sleeping with would not go along with) a 27. Now I'm glad, I like my 28.

I have taken advantage of their active/retired military program to get a 1911 at 40% off. A 108284 I think. They have not charged my card but I do have an order number. They did say it would take four to six months.
Anyway when I get it I guess the answer will be 2009.

This one's 43 years old and it's NIB and I just bought it in 2009. Does it count?

Bought a 2-tone 22A-1 with the lazer-engraved wood grips as an Anniversary present for my wife in 2001. Before that it was a two-tone 469 in 1985. I have never bought a new S&W revolver for myself, although the aforesaid wife bought me a 24-3 new when they came out in '83.

Wow. You got me thinking, when was it? I looked it up and low and behold, my last new S&W purchase was a 16-4 in 1990.

I just don't like those newer S&Ws. The quality is not there. Hell, it wasn't there when I bought my 16-4. If I compare my 16-4 to my other K-32s, its like night and day.
And stainless, forget it.

Sal, he had a stack of them. Broke out an RSR catalog showing a $450+ replacement cost. After civil discussion he let me take my pick (with or without the lock) for $350. Well, $377 with tax and call-in. A deal I couldn't refuse. Joe

I bought a new 642 about 14 months ago. It was and will be my last new one since I've learned to appreciate vintage S&W's.
