When Is Enough Enough?

G.I. Shooter, sorry to hear you are still experiencing problems with this. Once I fixed mine, had the same problem, it shoots anything I put thru it... from CCI to Federal bulk to the dreaded Remington Bucket of Bullets.

Too bad Smith and Wesson doesn't realize the damage they are doing with their lack of attention to things like this.

Was your fix slightly bending the ejector?

I want to address the $780 cost. When I first ordered the Victory with the fluted barrel I wanted to make this a super firearm as it was a birthday gift for my wife. I purchased a Volquartsen fluted barrel with a forward blow compensator, a Tandemkross aluminum picatinny rail along with a Tandemkross Halo charging grip. I also purchased a Trijicon SRO red dot. The accessories costs were almost as pricey as the cost of the Victory! I really wanted to make this a sooo cool firearm. One thing that I did not factor in was that the Victory would be so unreliable! So unreliable AND embarassing was when the range master called for a cease fire on the range and asked that we remove the firearm from the range as the constant jams caused spent and misfired rounds all over the ground. My wife was sweeping them up as fast as they were jamming! All the additional upgrades are at home in a box while the Victory spends most of it's time at Fedex or the Smith Wesson repair department!

As mentioned above, and I'm sorry for the trouble that you're having with this pistol but, you should have requested full reimbursement, taking into consideration how many times it's already been there to be repaired and they couldn't do it.
Like your original post enough is enough. Simply tell him you want your money back.JMHO

Every time I call I ask for ANY reimbursement or replacement of the firearm but are told that the firearm has to go throurgh THEIR evaluation before any action is taken! We are really at the end of the road and just want to end this nightmare but do not want to pass this unreliable firearm on to the next guy! I asked for ANY resolution and I will never again buy another Smith!

So you feel Smith should reimburse you for the upgrades that were not installed on the pistol as I read your post? Since you've stated you'll never buy another Smith period it seems you've played all your cards. Good luck

Was your fix slightly bending the ejector?

Yes it was. I thought we had discussed this in another thread, but perhaps it was someone else. Yes, a slight bend of the ejector towards the bolt and it started performing flawlessly. For my son's, it took me 3 attempts before I got it bent correctly. I know just how frustrating this can be... these were our very FIRST FIREARMS of any kind, and to have them both malfunction right out of the box... you can't possibly imagine the names I was calling the S&W company!!

No I do not expect Smith to pay for the upgrades as I will sell them at our gun club. I will accept any reasonable offer from Smith as I really want to end this nightmare. I also don't expect Smith to repay me for all the NUMEROUS rounds that went in the trash. I also do not expect Smith to pay me for all the aggravation of printing labels, gas for trips to Fedex and embarassment at the gun club for all the cease fires, etc. I also have numerous boxes of ammo of all kinds in order to see what the firearm likes. Too much aggravation!

Was your fix slightly bending the ejector?

This is all I did to fix mine. I only had to bend it a couple thousandths. It took all of 2 minutes and it works flawlessly. Over 1,000 rounds since adjusting with 1 ftf and I'm chalking that up to a dented cartridge.

UPDATE-UPDATE!! Just got off the phone with Smith and was told that they found the ejector out of alignment so they replaced the top half of the firearm. They then fired 5 mags through without an issue. The firearm will be mailed back today!

@G.I.SHOOTER,

I realize that this has been an unwarranted ordeal for you, and I truly do apologize for my comment about buying a revolver. Typically, S&W makes a great product. I base that on 6 revolvers and one semi-auto that have never had to go home in order to function properly. My semi-auto did have a recall before it came to me, and my 41 did go back a few years ago for a critical function issue, only because I don't have a pistol smith that I work with (my oldtimer passed away).

Honestly, since Smith claims that they have found a problem (much like others have identified) and are fixing it, I would give your Victory another chance, since it is obviously something about it that drew you to it in the first place!

I have a model 622. I shoot Federal copper coated ammo through it and have never had any type of problem. I have a lot of .22lr pistols and rifles, I learned that some are very picky about ammo. Glad you got your gun fixed.

I would like to thank everyone for their posts as this was a real learning experience and I also got a great deal of new information! I do not have any issues with any of the posts as they are all seperate opinions and I respect all of them. I went into the Victory purchase full steam ahead and spent whatever it took as I originally thought it was going to be a great shooter. Things happen with all products and I am willing to start over and give Smith and the Victory another chance! Thanks again to everyone!!

To add to the great customer service was:
A- the rep admitted that Smith may be the ones that tried to correct the ejector issue but their fault that it did not work.
B-the Victory is being sent via Fedex overnight mail and I will have it back tomorrow!

Can't get better than that!

Hay Hay Hay! Sounds like it is in line what our posters thought about it being an ejector issue. Hope it works out for you.
Good Luck
Jim
ps, ask S&W what kind of ammo they used to test fire it.
Jim

Smith shipped the Victory at 9:55am yesterday morning and I signed for it at 1:05 this afternoon! Fabulous service! Heading to the range in the morning!

Just came back from the range!! I fired over 250 rounds of every kind of ammo I had and the Victory ate it all up without any issues. PLUS, the firearm is deadly accurate. I took my rest to check the sights but they were dead on! What a great feeling to fire away without any issues. The ammo that I really prefer is the Federal Automatch as it has a bit more punch than the rest.
