Where are the Shield Plus Magazines?

Months later.... still no magazines.

For the 10-rd magazine limit states, the M&P Shield Plus essentially comes with ONE magazine. The 13-rd magazine cannot be sold with the pistol.

As has been pointed out, most other manufacturers have no problem supplying extra magazines to customers, at time of purchase. Plenty of Glock mags. SIG mags. Magazines are cheap and easy to make. Their subcontractors can turn them out like nacho chips.

But S&W is no longer the company it was, not even 10 years ago. They push out mediocre guns as fast as possible. Make ****, add magazines.

They give no thought or care about their millions of legacy firearms, nor supplying basic accessories, spares or work on their current widget. What few "quality" firearms they sell today, would not even make the grade as standard 20 years ago.

But the current customer base is ignorant of this. When I see a customer (or a youtube yahoo) admiring the "awesome quality" of a recent production S&W revolver... I just sigh.

So sad.

And this, I believe, is the main source of the few available (and mostly obscenely priced) Shield Plus magazines on Gunbroker. Notice how almost all of them are 13 round magazines.

I live in the free and as of now not communist part of the country, but curious…when they sell these pistols in states like NY or CA, don’t they include two 10 round mags? Or do they just give you one and take the 13 round out?

Typically yes, but For the Plus, the two 10 round mag guns are mostly not available. I have only seen the Plus with one mag locally.

I remember when the Shield 1.0 came out in 2012, I had to wait 8 weeks to get my pre-ordered one and 10 months for extra magazines.
Met Gar ? is an Italian company and Italy was locked down for most of 2020. Try to be patient they will show up soon (I hope). We are going through the same issue with my wife's new Ruger LCP Max.

Even that doesn't always work. I clicked buy-it-now for two 13 round magazines (auction read six still available) and immediately went to checkout only to be informed there were now none left.

If it makes you guys feel any better, getting 21-round and even 17-round mags for my new Sig P320 X-Full is proving even more difficult than it was for my 13-round Shield Plus mags.

It's having 37 rounds on your body instead of 24. Lots of urban crime now involves gangs of MUY (minority urban youth).

Dude, if you fire 24 rounds and THAT don't do the trick, neither will 37.

If you live in that much fear, carry an AR.

Smith & Wesson Shield Plus Magazines

OK Smith & Wesson this is getting ridiculous. When are the Shield Plus Magazines going to be available? I see postings that reported late April. Here it is August 12th. Why not release the Magazine to be manufactured by another third party. I love my Shield Plus but to practice at the range with only 2 magazines is painful.

Please increase production of magazines for current customers.

Robert - Smith doesn't make the Magazines .. Mec-gar does. They're in Italy. I contacted Mec-gar USA for info - they couldn't / wouldn't help me, claiming the USA (aftermarket) division and the Italy (OEM) division don't work with each other. Let's not also forget about supply chain issues re: getting "stuff" from outside of the country ... I suspect we're gonna be waiting a while.

Huh, they have mags everywhere for $30 each... Impact guns and also sold all over GB. Just saw $28 at Natchez.

Yea, I'm starting to get a little perturbed with the lack of extra mags.
Springfield had extra mags for the Hellcat available within a month. This is a tad ridiculous and it's been nearly 5 months since I bought my Plus.

S&W's plan and timeline is completely dependent on MecGar's timeline.
