Apex etc
I had to take the sear housing block out to install the spring kit and new trigger.
Juana from Apex has been emailing me some support as well. He has advised me to sand down the rear of the trigger a bit. I will do that when I get home and see where we're at.
Thanks for all the help, I hope to get this figured out so I can go to the range tomorrow.

I just found an old email from Apex, November, 2014 from Scott Folk, as follows:
Hi Don,
You may need a magazine in to make your trigger work properly. It likely has a magazine release installed from the factory.

In his note, "Magazine Release" should have been "Magazine Safety Lever". I had already discovered the magazine safety issue when I got the note and just now found the email on this computer.
I had forgotten that note but remembered from long ago that the magazine safety lever had to be full up for the trigger bar link to work.
He indicated somewhere along the way that they planned on doing another install video for California Guns. Probably wasn't worth the effort at the time.
I am not doing any mods to my gun, it works just fine.
I do appreciate the California version, that was reliability tested, drop tested, and otherwise tested to be on the CA roster. I can't understand why some folks have objected so loudly about the tactile round-in-chamber indicator, works fine and is useful if you really do have to pick up your gun in the dark.
I did buy a couple of the full-capacity magazines since they are allowed in this state. Useful when going to the range.
Bass pro shop here had to change their rules to get me the CA version. I had bought a standard gun here but Bass pro took it back and did a special order for the replacement, at the same time matching a mail-order price. I think I did well.
I believe the factory suggested price is $20 higher for the CA version but I didn't pay extra, actually got a significant discount for opening a Bass credit card.
