I am looking to replace a Colt AR15 type rifle, I sold mine several several years ago and I was wondering which brand and what model would be the best buy. I am only wanting the rifle for general target shooting.
I'd reccomend a Colt again. Either a 6920 or 6940. I know you said target shooting but for a couple of hundred dollars you'll have a rifle that's probably better made and will absolutely hold its value better.
I have two Colt/Noveske Franken guns and two Noveske Thunder Ranch models.
Noveske wouldn't be in my price range normally but I live nearby and they've treated me very well. I met John Noveske through the Sheriff's I was working for and he supplies us with the bulk of the departments AR's. Actually for all I know they may have replaced all the Colts with Noveskes by now.
Back to the point, Colt.

OK I hear trash talk....Prove that a Colt is better built, You may be able to prove that a Colt meets 50 year old metallurgical standards and meets milspecs that are over 20 years old. But to out and out say that a Colt is better built I take offense to. I have seen Colts I have shot Colts they arent as accurate and the fit and finsh isnt there either. You are lucky in being hooked up with Noveske's, and how a Sheriffs department can afford them is beyond me. I do agree that Noveske makes a really nice barrel. But to out and out say that a Colt is better built. They couldnt even keep the military contract for AR's. You have been reading the "chart" too long. And around here you can buy Police trade in Colts for $600 all day long but they charge $675 for the Bushy's.
