Which Do You Prefer .22 short, 22 CB Long, 22 Sub-Sonic

I have used 22 short CB rounds in a Anschutz 22 rifle with 24" barrel indoors and the only thing you can hear is the firing pin dropping. They make no sound even without a supressor. I have used them for a long time as an indoor pistol round with my high standard Olympic and they make very little noise but I was surprised shooting them out of a rifle. For penetration, I can't imagine they would perform well although they do take care of small game and rodents.

I prefer 22 standard velocity ammo for everything. Remington is the best in my experience.

If you're lookng for something quiet to drop a rodent in a near by tree in the city, see about getting some old bb or cb caps.

Sounds like clapping your hands.

Will drop the rodent without bothering the neighbors.

I've had fun with all of them. With a Henry lever action and a Ruger Single Ten, I can enjoy about every type of 22 lr there is.

sub sonics

The CCI Long sub sonics work well for me in a bolt action rifle, single fed.
They have dispatched a number of coons in live traps. And I have shot a few coons eating my bird feed, at about 15 yards. I generally lung shoot them and they run 20-30 yards and tip over.
They are not super quiet but am not aware that anyone has heard me shoot.

I am trying to decide which of the above is first of all the least noisy round and which is the most effective as far a knock down power. Right now I am leaning towards the .22 CB Long rounds, but I have not tried the 22 Sub-Sonic or the .22 short rounds.

The new CCI QUIET .22's are excellent! Out of a bolt action rifle they are extremely quiet and adequately accurate. I also like them because they are a FULL 40 grain bullet as opposed to the Shorts and CB's being 29 grains. If you are going to get the CB's, the Longs are better than the Shorts and I actually think they are quieter than the Shorts. The standard .22 Shorts (not the CB's) are OK but slightly louder than the "Quite" - CCI's are. The standard Shorts are not easy to find and when you do they are not cheap - but what else is new?!
